PERSONALITY.
strict | bold | hypocritical | solemn | ashamed
Withdrawn, yet outspoken; courageous, yet unwilling to face her own fears... TobuCatmon has several conflicting attributes and thought processes. While she strives to show in others what is good and just, she does not always follow her own advice. TobuCatmon feels as if she has witnessed and lived through much this life has had to offer, considering herself an old soul despite the fact that digimon do not age in the saw way a human would. Usually serious, she does not take her life for granted or see it as some kind of joke or game as others might. Work always comes before play; though she doesn't even seem to have any concept of what 'play' is. To her all that exists is work.
TobuCatmon isn't one to burden herself with the troubles of others, preferring to leave things alone for them to figure out for themselves. This isn't to say she is cold-hearted, or that she'd ignore a situation in which someone else was being so. She just likes to see others work out their own problems, believing it builds character and helps in the long run, far more than someone else overcoming their troubles for them.
Though she has come to be a rather skilled fighter, TobuCatmon does not enjoy it as she once did, actually going as far as to avoid most fights unless it were completely necessary for her survival. Digimon that constantly seem to attract negative attitudes and trouble hold no respect in her eyes. It may seem at times that she feels herself above many digimon, but this is not the case. TobuCatmon does not feel superior towards anyone so much as she just feels as if she understands the consequences of actions far more than most. She is very judgmental and preachy, though it is not always intentional, she will still never think twice about speaking her mind.
Humans are a touchy subject to her, though she does not reject them as a whole. While she is more critical of them than she is digimon, she holds a sort of soft spot for them as well. She could never bring herself to harm one, preferring to try and scare them off if someone were to come at her aggressively. At times, TobuCatmon finds herself observing humans and their partners, just watching them quietly as if calculating their relationship to herself. She does not tolerate any kind of inequality in these partnerships, at times intruding on others just to lecture them for it.
As was stated before, she dislikes conflict very much, but is willing to contradict herself and cause it in these specific situations... at times even going as far as to start a fight. This is not because she wishes anyone harm, but rather that she aims to see human and digimon work together as they should.
TobuCatmon has a strong kind of maternal instinct for young humans and digimon and tends to be far less strict with them and more lenient if they are doing something wrong. Rather than lecture, she will explain softly and try and help them to understand. This isn't to say she will at all baby anyone, just that she will be less critical of their behavior than she would someone older. She believes children have a much better chance at changing their ways than someone older and hopes to take advantage of this instead of wasting her time with those who will always stay the same.
Regardless of most of this behavior, TobuCatmon tends to keep to herself more often than not. She has a very worn and solemn air about her, though is unwilling to share what troubles her. Whatever it is however, it seems to be something she can't bring herself to let go - something she is incredibly ashamed of.
HISTORY.
As long as TobuCatmon could recall, she had always strived to become one of the seldom chosen digimon to be paired with a human partner. While her friends busied themselves with playing and having fun, she was training...constantly improving her skills and fighting techniques. It was no wonder then when she, just a Puroromon at the time, was finally paired with a young human whom she swore to protect and cherish.
Their bond grew quickly, as did Puroromon as they started going on and having their own adventures. With her partner's help, it wasn't long before she digivolved into her rookie form - Ryudamon. It was an incredibly fitting form, as she prided herself in being a very talented and at-the-ready warrior. Her partner was her life as far as she was concerned and she would follow them to the ends of the earth and back if necessary. Never did she question their word and would follow a command without so much as a second thought. If her partner wanted something... she was there to make sure it was theirs.
If there was something she lacked however, and that was a conscious against her partner's behavior. She had become so determined to please them, that she became blind to the fact that their deeds were beginning to border the line of malice. TobuCatmon was slowly becoming less of a partner and more of a subservient drone. If her partner ordered it...it would be done - even if stealing, lying, and harming others in the process was necessary. She had made a promise to keep them safe, to be the best partner she could be...and they assured her in the end that what they were doing was just. To this, she was oblivious and naive. All she cared about was satisfying her partner's demands, never once stopping to question why they were doing something.
This all came to an end one day when their usual bullying was taken too far, and TobuCatmon was suddenly thrust into reality. After pointlessly frightening several baby digimon upon her partner's orders, she was then instructed to absorb their data. TobuCatmon was confused with this, as baby digimon really didn't have much data to absorb so it seemed a little pointless...not to mention cruel. After voicing this thought to her partner, she was surprised by their answer - an aggravated shout that she should know her place and do as she's told. Stunned by this, TobuCatmon readily did as she was told; only to feel herself weighed down with shame shortly after. She never showed it, but after that incident she slowly started to realize her partner's malicious behavior...and how much worse it seemed to be getting by the day.
It didn't help that she never once defied their orders, not because she was frightened to do so, but rather because she hoped they would come to see the wrong in their actions on their own. TobuCatmon really did love her partner, even if her respect for them was not as great as it had been originally. She believed they just needed to be shown a warm heart, still doing her best to please them. It was different now however, as she began to show a side of kindness rather then the willingness to serve as she use to. She was beginning to act more like an equal rather than just a lowly dog...and this frustrated her partner to no end.
The pressure to be stronger and better then the other digimon they came across was beginning to become overbearing, as her partner often ordered her into battles against digimon far stronger than herself. Somehow, she managed to make it through more than a few battles, growing stronger as she did. This was a mixture of skill and dumb luck, though even this could not prepare her for the fight that would ultimately cost her the things which she believed and held close to her heart.
TobuCatmon found herself pit against an ultimate, her advice to flee thoroughly ignored by her partner. So she stayed and fought, against her better judgment, though the battle quickly turned for the worse just as she had worried. Worn and tired, TobuCatmon was struggling to dodge attacks, let alone get any in herself. Still, she refused to run, constantly casting glances at her partner as she waited for their order to flee. After all, they wouldn't let her drag on when it was apparent she didn't have much left. They wouldn't let her die like this... would they? She forced herself to believe otherwise, doing her best to fight until she had to face the fact that she wasn't going to win this one; limbs shaking just to hold herself up. That was when she saw it, felt it, glancing over to see the expression on her partner's face that would continue to haunt her to this day. Disgust, disappointment - nothing but cold eyes resting on her like something long dead. A chill ran through her heart and she felt frozen in place at the look, legs locked as she simply gazed into the resentment in her partner's eyes with what little energy she had left.
And then...
The next thing TobuCatmon can recall is being alone in Primary Village. At first, her memories felt void of anything, though within the first few days of her new life, she began to remember. All she found herself able to dwell on was the look on her partner's face before she'd been deleted, the same hesitation and coldness overcoming her as the image stuck in her head. She wondered what had become of them, if they had managed to make it out alive without her or if they'd been killed themselves. The latter thought caused her much distress despite everything that had happened to her. She still loved her partner dearly.
It would confuse someone then why TobuCatmon decided to do what she did next - and that was stay as far away from her partner as she could manage. It ripped through everything she believed in, everything a partner digimon was born to do... but she couldn't bring herself to face them. As much as she tried to convince herself that her partner had been killed the same day she had, to lighten the harshness of her abandonment, it was impossible to ignore the growing coldness she began to harbor day after day. The feeling was not her own, this much she knew, but she knew it well. With it came the realization that they were still alive and going back to them would only get harder the longer she waited. But still, she couldn't bring herself to do it.
To this day, she finds herself alone, keeping to herself as time passes on; trying to ignore the half of her that still feels agape. Empty.
