well let me tell you 'bout the way she looked
the way she'd act and the color of her hair
her voice was soft and cool, her eyes were clear and bright

August can be (and has been) considered to be a charming and feminine young girl. With her slightly round face and soft, large features, she looks just about her age and girly enough. With a mop of curly, bright blonde hair that reaches her neck and large, innocent golden eyes - she can be compared to a modern-day goldilocks. She rarely takes out the flower barrettes that holds her hair out of her face. August is known to adorn herself in girly outfits and other types of stylish clothing that compliments her figure. So one would logically wonder, what is it about this girl's physical appearance that she would make her want to alter herself beyond recognition in the digital word? August does not dislike her physical appearance, but instead the negative connotations about who she is and what she is known for. Starting a new life and adventure in the digital world - she figured the only way to escape cruel reality would be to become someone else entirely.
And thus her counterpart, christened her last name 'Flynn', was born. Flynn stands at a far more impressive height of 6'1" than August who is a mere 5'4". She takes the appearance of a man in his late twenties that was loosely based off of a character from a book about bandits. August has chosen a wardrobe old victorian clothing for Flynn, who even wears an unnecessary eyepatch over his right eye. Although she thinks of him to be far more feminine than most men, he vastly differs from August appearance-wise. He is tall, lanky, and definitely far more 'bad-ass-looking' (as she'd say) than August herself thinks she could ever be.
PERSONALITY.
Despite the fact that August switches back and forth between physical appearances, she tends to stay true to her personality. Both male and female versions of August are skittish, excitable, flamboyant, and relentless tricksters. Part of the reason that August moonlights as a man in the digital world is because she someday wishes to see the faces of those she fooled. However, that's not the whole story - August has a deeper and darker part of herself that she rarely shows to anyone and is part of the reason she felt she needed to reconstruct her entire character in the first place.
August has an unhealthy desire for justice and is a firm believer in lex talionis (eye for an eye law). If she sees something done that can be considered unfair in any sense of the word, she will fight it to her fullest extent. She is disgusted by crime and fancies herself as a heroic and good-hearted person. There are times, however, where she acts hypocritically against her own beliefs when she plays pranks on others just for laughs.
She is very rash and impulsive, always willing to fight for what she believes in and does so with an uncanny amount of courage. As Flynn, her girly tendencies sometimes show through her disguise. It's obvious that August has absolutely no idea how to be a man and relies on stereotypes that men want to be manly in order to keep up her facade. This will never get in the way of her noble nature, however, and in both bodies has the capacity to become serious and stern when the situation calls for it.
Unfortunately, August is easily love stricken and becomes very uncomfortable when faced with the idea that girls may be possibly finding her attractive as Flynn. It makes it very difficult for her to try and discard her emotions when she finds herself having school girl crushes on cute boys while in Flynn's body. Sometime's she'll slip and forget that she's a man while playfully attempting to flirt with boys - but the awkward looks she gets quickly snaps her out of it.
HISTORY.
father; leigh flynn.
mother; forgotten.
siblings(s); unknown.
Born and raised in lower class San Francisco - August was bred for city life. It was a difficult lifestyle, having to live in a poor community with little heat during the winter and without a car. She would have to ride in taxis with strangers with barely any money to pay for the cab fare, but it toughened her up. Things weren't horrible living there until her mother and father went through a messy divorce that left her and her dad with almost nothing. She was too young to think about missing her mother, only being around six years old at the time. Her father would later explain that they were just too different from each other for the marriage to have worked out. August wouldn't hear from her mother again - and she got through each day sitting down with her father and reading books about old-time pirates and love stories about bandits and princesses.
Unfortunately, August would become subjected to bullying at a young age. She was not quite submissive enough to allow this to happen, and her father recommended to her to pretend being their friends. In order to cease the hurtful words from the more 'popular' kids at her school, she became their personal errand girl. August was soon exposed to the darker part of her home town, having to work as a middleman by buying and selling substances for her classmates in high school. This did not cushion the teasing, and August soon became tired and thirsty for revenge against her peers.
It started as what was meant to be a (somewhat) harmless joke. August was sent to grab the table sundaes during their mealtime and secretly smothered one of them with peanuts hidden under piles of whipped cream. She had heard that one of the girls hated peanuts to the point that they would start choking at the taste of them. Unfortunately, August didn't realize that this meant it was because the girl had a nut allergy.
After almost accidentally murdering one of her classmates, August was expelled from school. From then on she was home schooled by her father, who was still sour about being sued thousands of dollars for his daughter's attempted manslaughter. August knew that she had gone too far that day and swore off any form of pranks. At least, until she discovered the digital world. After spending months in a depressive slump due to the humiliation of being called a sociopath trying to murder kids according to their allergies, she was about ready for a change in pace. She had gone against her own beliefs in justice and deserved punishment for it. August thought it appropriate to discard her entire identity for a new life so that she may atone for her actions by stopping evil in the digital world. No more would she be August Leigh Flynn.. she would be a hero like the ones in her books. A very... girly... unorthodox hero.
