Computer Programmers are baffled by a sudden outbreak of a virus spreading rapidly from Japan to the United States. According to a recent survey at least 70% of the population has noticed a slowed internet connection, computers turning on by themselves, and the sound of static and unintelligible computerized voices coming from their monitors. An organized group in Kansas claims that they know the culprit – Aliens? Programmers say that spreading a virus that would sabotage an internet connection wouldn't be any problem–what confuses them is the static and the voices. Could this just be an elaborate prank by an expert hacker? Or something more?
Several touch-phone users in Odaiba, Japan have come forward saying that they are having similar problems with their phones. Experts say that it is likely that the virus could not only affect computers but all digital electronics and that it shouldn't be something to worry about.
Michael Grossman, president of the Masterson internet network recommends not opening any strange e-mails until they find a way to deprogram this virus. The bizarre observation that studies have been pointing to is that only children between the ages of their teens and their mid-twenties have been taking notice of strange electrical activity. This could be perhaps their engrossment with social network sites that have been known for spreading viruses such as myspace or facebook, more on this story at 11.
