TobuCatmon
▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯
How long has it been...
...since we visited this place? Frost had begun to form on the tips of her wings.
TobuCatmon was not one to give into much, even such a harsh climate as this. The freezing wind stiffened her joints and stung her eyes as she flew just below the clouds; the moisture in the air collecting in her fur and weighing her down. Still, she would not stop to rest, forcing herself to set aside any thoughts of what little energy she had left as her wing struggled to keep going. Tobu would rather herself fall from the very sky in exhaustion than stop when she had come this far - when she was this close. Even though it would be a mere rest, it felt the same as giving up to her... she needed to keep moving.
...It's not that much further now... Snow?
A few seldom flake of it danced past her ears as the wind flowed past her, causing the champion's attention to move upward toward the darkened cloud above her. It would be snowing soon... as a matter of fact, TobuCatmon was surprised it hadn't been already. That didn't entirely matter to her now though as she cast her eyes down to the world below her, slowly making her decent to the ground. This was it... she was positive this was the spot. Wings folding inward some, she left herself free fall several yards toward the frozen ground below before stretching them out to soften her landing. Hopping several times to slow her momentum, she came to a steady stop on the stone path beneath her paws. Red and green claws scraped against rock as she stepped forward, exhaling a warm breath into the freezing air in what looked like a puff of smoke. Being on the ground was not nearly as cold as it was to be up toward the clouds, however it was still close to freezing... the floor beneath her pads already beginning to numb them.
...why would I come back here? Lightly, puffs of frozen water started to fall from the clouds overhead, causing TobuCatmon to shake herself off before folding her wings to her sides. They stung painfully, sore and frozen thanks to the low temperatures she had forced them to endure without rest. Tobu scanned her surroundings quietly as she moved along the path she'd found, mounts of blinding white snow and withered trees littering both sides of the narrow walkway. She wondered who had bothered to put such a thing in a place like this; this entire area seemed deserted, abandoned... something she found horribly fitting considering her experience here.
This was the last place she had seen them, wasn't it?
Her partner...
...or...
could she even call them that anymore?
It had been many year, so many that one would wonder how on earth anyone could possibly remember the way back to such a remote and unremarkable place. There were no giant landmarks or anything to remember it by, only this little path she found herself walking along and the dying foliage buried halfway in snow. This was all she had to confirm to her that this was the place she had been searching for in this frozen wasteland. How could she forget? It all lived so vividly in her memories. After all......this was the place she had died.
...why would I come back here?
The question rang inside her head more loudly as she came to a crossroads in the stone laden path, a little fork that went three ways - though each one was mundanely identical to the next. Tobu stopped, finally allowing herself to think. Why was she here? Why would anyone want to come back to a place that has brought them such agony? ...Truthfully, Tobu had no answer for the lingering question, only knowing that this was something she had needed to do. She was holding on, after all these years, still holding on... as if to let it hurt just that much more. She held no forgiveness for herself, eyes darting down the three paths as if she expected the land to give it to her. An answer.
...what am I looking for?...

To start off, Lukas absolutely hated this place.
It was freezing, and the wind kept kicking up and blowing the flame out on his lighter. He wasn't going to give up lighting his cigarette though, he needed one badly... Especially with how pissed off he was. The twenty-two year old didn't even understand why he was out here, digimon hunting was Oswell's job, not his. However he didn't have any digimon to delete today and apparently his brother's arm had been badly injured on his last outing; honestly he had little to no sympathy for the kid, it was his own damn fault he was so badly injured.
"Scheiße..."
The flame on his lighter went out once again, as another cold gust of air blew past at just the right angle... Of the wrong angle as far as he was concerned. Lukas chewed on the end of his cigarette a little in irritation, immediately trying to get the thing in his hand to light again. He managed it and quickly put his cancer stick to the flame, managing to beat another little gale and get the thing lit. The young man immediately took a long drag on the thing, waiting a moment before exhaling the smoke; he seemed more at ease somehow now, but that didn't really mean anything.
He still hated it here.
The digimon at his side gave a small sigh as the human shoved the lighter in the pocket of his coat, though as to why BlackGargomon had sighed to start with was unclear... Probably because she knew the lighter would just be needed again in a few minutes. The champion digimon looked over her surroundings in a solemn silence, neither hating nor disliking the place. This place was sad and rather cold... It reminded her of someone but she wasn't about to say who, knowing her companion wouldn't care to hear what she thought. So the beast digimon kept her thoughts private, spinning the barrels of her vulcans just to hear a noise other than the wind or Lukas' intermittently raspy breathing.
If BlackGargomon had been the German-born man's real partner she would probably suggest he stop or at least cut back on smoking, however as it was she had no reason to tell him so. It wasn't because she hated him though, as despite having every reason to feel so she did not; as a matter of fact, the rabbit-like digimon didn't hate anyone. It wasn't because she didn't care either, despite the fact that once again she had every right not to care for Lukas... But unfortunately she couldn't help but care to a small extent. Instead the only thing keeping her from saying anything about the human's nasty habit was the fact that she knew he wouldn't listen, as the man never listened to anything she had to say.
She was nothing more than a tool to him, a means by which to do his job. It didn't matter to him how doing his dirty work affected her, as according to Lukas digimon didn't have feelings at all... And nothing seemed to be working to dislodge this belief. Thinking about this made BlackGargomon sigh again, earning her a nudge from her faux partner; it was surprisingly gentle for coming from someone who didn't think digimon had emotions, but even so the man had never harmed his unwilling companion. "Stop sighing. Wir haben viel zu tun." He muttered, the words of his native language coming out unintentionally.
BlackGargomon nodded, following after Lukas and he strode off down the frozen path that seemed so out of place. Despite the man's words she gave yet another little sigh, as she knew that if they found a digimon to catch she would be the one to fight... After all, her artificial partner had no Digital Hack codes. She shivered a little and looked down at the ground, following behind the young man in complete silence. They didn't walk all that long before the rabbit digimon found herself nearly bumping into Lukas' legs, as he had come to a sudden stop.
The man couldn't believe his luck really, his eyes scanning over the Tobucatmon up ahead mutely... He was already trying to calculate the price the champion digimon would fetch. Lukas stepped aside so BlackGargomon could see her opponent, the beast digimon giving a little whimper; she had hoped they wouldn't find anything here. "Go on." He ordered, watching as his purchased partner stepped forward and hesitantly raised her vulcans towards the flying cat monster. She seemed to murmur a faint apology before readying herself, calling out her attack as she began to shoot at her unwanted opponent.
"GARGO LASER!"

"GARGO LASER!"
Tobu's ears flicked back at the mere sound of another's voice in this deserted place, instinct acting alone as she twisted her glance back to see the two behind her. The fur along TobuCatmon's spine came to stand on end, ears perked and eyes narrow in alarm.
Wha... Why there they attacking her?! There wasn't much time to dwell on the thought long, BlackGargomon's attack firing right for her. Quickly, the digimon's wings snapped open and spread out with a soft whooshing sound, batting downward against the air to lift the champion off the ground. The feline just barely managing to avoid most of the downpour of bullets coming from the rabbit digimon's attack... though she had not been entirely fast enough to dodge them all. A pained wince left her as her body gave into several of the bullets' stings, though she refused to let it affect her otherwise.
While she was stunned by the sudden attack, it would not stop her from keeping calm, ignoring the stiff ache in her wings as she attempted to climb a few yards off the ground. With ears still pinned back she found herself giving a loud kind of warning hiss, resisting any urge she had to return BlackGargomon's attack. There was no reason for them to be fighting. Tobu couldn't even understand why was she being attacked in the first place.
"What are you doing?" she inquired in confusion, though her words came out sounding like a small demand. She didn't necessarily mean it this way however, hoping it would be possible to reason with them civilly. Maybe they just wanted her out of the area for whatever reason? ...A territorial dispute? It didn't seem to fit, but she couldn't think of much else aside from simply being bullied around, exhaling in mild irritation as she kept her eyes on the two.
The champion examined Lukas and BlackGargomon a moment, ears still back in a defensive manner. Something about the two seemed... off. Tobu didn't at all like the look of it, some kind of wary feeling kicking up in the pit of her gut. Despite their distance, she felt like she could almost feel her fellow digimon's reluctance, which bothered her greatly. Or maybe it was just her instinctive distrust for most humans that made something about this partnership seem askew... TobuCatmon couldn't be sure.
Trying to ease her nerves, she called out to the two again -- "If you want me to leave, I'll leave. I don't want a fight." The cat monster's words carried over to them confidently, hoping they would take her plea into account and let her leave. As much as Tobu hated being pushed around, she wasn't one to stick around for the sake of being stubborn. She valued her life far more than she valued her pride.
Also, this was the last place she'd want to die.

BlackGargomon couldn't help a sigh of relief as the bulk of her attack was dodged by the champion digimon, however Lukas was rather irritated by this turn of events. Really all the man wanted to do was get the digimon unconscious and dragged back to the AIR camp, and then he'd never have to come out this far in the digital world again... At least he'd better not, or there would be hell to pay. He would really rather just be back at the camp, or maybe in the real world doing something else productive; he wasn't hired to do this, he didn't see why he was the one who had to do it. Honestly these were the only thoughts in the young man's head as he exhaled another puff of smoke from his cigarette, not saying a single word.
He seemed to expect BlackGargomon to handle every aspect of the situation, so that included speaking with TobuCatmon. Lukas felt he owed the beast digimon no explanations or answers, and trusted... Or rather, expected his faux partner to handle these things. He didn't even so much as look up at the champion digimon as it spoke, seeming rather determined not to pay the creature more mind than he had to. Once again paying attention would be left to his digimon, and not up to him. Just like everything else in the situation.
BlackGargomon seemed hesitant to speak though, bringing her vulcans back to herself and staring down at the frozen ground despite the little sigh of irritation Lukas gave. She knew exactly what was expected of her but that didn't make it any easier to do, her reluctance in being a part of this situation in the first place to blame. The rabbit-like digimon didn't like this at all, TobuCatmon would see her as a traitor to their kind... And she supposed despite how much she hated her position she still was one. The champion digimon took a deep breath as if to compose herself, before she forced some words out and hoped with all her heart the other digimon could see she didn't want to do this.
...But instead she had to.
"I... I'm sorry... But I have to fight you." Her voice sounded so soft and hesitant, she wasn't entirely sure the flying cat monster would even hear her words. BlackGargomon hazarded a glance up at Lukas, but the man didn't even look at her; his eyes were fixed almost stubbornly on the ground, like a child's might when they clearly wanted to leave. This only caused the champion digimon to feel more unnerved, as she was all alone in the situation... Not that she had expected anything different, but it was still hard. She gave a shaky exhale as she tried to get herself together enough to speak louder, though part of her believed she would most likely fail to do so.
"...My partner and I are going to capture you." BlackGargomon's voice came out no less hesitant than before, but at the very least it was a little louder this time. The rabbit shifted uneasily before pointing her vulcans up at TobuCatmon, a rather obvious frown coming onto her face as she did so... She really didn't want to do this. "If you surrender now, I will not shoot again." She stated after a moment or so, the tone of her voice having a sort of pleading element to it... As if she were discreetly trying to beg the other digimon into submitting so they wouldn't have to fight. Part of her felt like the cat monster would not be giving in without a battle though, something that distressed her greatly.
Any emotions she appeared to have were blatantly ignored by Lukas, as he just stood idly by and waited for the moment when they'd finally be returning to the AIR camp. He had finished his cigarette by now but he didn't get another one out, not wanting to have to battle with his lighter again. The man was after all paying attention to all of this to some degree, as he had to at least be somewhat attentive in case he was in the way of the fight. So far though this was going rather slow to him, almost too slow... He could feel his patience towards BlackGargomon slipping, just wishing she'd shoot now instead of bothering to answer questions.

"I... I'm sorry... But I have to fight you."
"...My partner and I are going to capture you."
...What?
TobuCatmon paused a moment, wings batting against the frozen air as she strained to keep herself aloft. This had to be some sort of joke... who on earth captured digimon? She wasn't even sure why such a thing would be happening, though like any other sane creature facing such a situation - she didn't like it. Ears pinning back, the cat-like digimon's lip curled upward, about to speak when BlackGargomon aimed her vulcans up at her once more.
"If you surrender now, I will not shoot again."
Maybe it was the smarter option, but Tobu simply hissed at the mere thought of surrendering. There was no way she was about to hand her freedom over to anyone... let alone these two. With a rhythmic flap of her wings, she managed to climb a touch higher into the air, beginning to wish now she had stopped to rest sooner; she wasn't sure how much longer she could keep herself up here.
"I already told you, I'm not looking for a fight," Tobu spoke again, though her words had a bit of a warning to them this time. Just because she refused to fight, didn't mean it was something she couldn't do... just something she would rather not. Something about the two still bothered her, especially since BlackGargomon seemed so reluctant to fight and... Lukas was just standing idly by like he wasn't even a part of this. The sight was sickening in her opinion, literally sickening as she felt something in the pit of her stomach burn.
"I don't plan on playing any game with you either, just let me leave," Tobu found herself speaking before she could fully process what she was saying, acting upon a small spark of pride as she wasted her chance to run while the option still presented itself. For a moment she almost thought maybe they would heed her words and let her leave, however Tobu was smarter than this -- she knew there would be no escaping capture without a fight. It angered her slightly, not just for her own well-being, but the sight of the two supposed partners maddened her as well.
...partners?
This didn't seem like a partnership from what TobuCatmon had seen of it so far. Lukas didn't even seem to have any interest in what was going on. If the circumstances had been leaning more in her favor, she might have spoken up and said something about this. However, she was tired... not to mention weakened from her flight over here. Tobu didn't want to take any chances that were too bold. It would be preferred if she made it out of here without a fight, which meant provoking anyone with any little comment would be foolish. The feline didn't want to antagonize them further... she just wanted to leave.

"I already told you, I'm not looking for a fight,"
"I don't plan on playing any game with you either, just let me leave."This response made BlackGargomon shake her head slightly, as if she was trying to tell TobuCatmon to take he statements back. "This isn't a game." She spoke up a little, though he voice seemed strained somehow with either sadness or urgency... Desperate for the other digimon to believe her, maybe see that giving up was the better option. There was also the option of fleeing for the champion digimon, but at the same time the rabbit digimon knew that even with however apathetic Lukas seemed towards the situation he would not let a target go so easily; he would not come all the way out here, just to return to the camp empty-handed. They'd pursue the beast digimon to exhaustion and drag her back, even if BlackGargomon wanted absolutely no part in it.
The champion digimon sighed, keeping her vulcans locked on Tobucatmon a moment before she once again consented to the fact she'd once again be used for treachery towards her own kind. "GARGO LASER!" BlackGargomon called out, her voice sounding blatantly uncertain and shaken but she didn't really notice; she was too focused on what was going on. The bullets fired up towards the cat digimon as she tried not to think about how much it might hurt the other, almost trying not to feel anything... However that was flat out impossible. This fight would be far from easy for her, just like they always were and always would be.
Lukas on the other hand felt nothing for the situation just like BlackGargomon had though, merely watching as the bullets traveled up towards the flying cat monster. Unlike his partner he hoped they hit and took the airborne champion down, so they could hurry up and get back to camp. He'd need another cigarette soon and with the wind starting to kick up he knew getting a flame going on the lighter would be near impossible, or at least keeping the flame long enough would be. If the gun-armed digimon had spent least time talking and more time shooting they might have been done with this already, or maybe the man was just feeling rather impatient with the place of things... Most likely just impatient, Lukas was not known for being very compliant with waiting.
As a result he had already shown signs of anxious behavior, such as shifting his weight from foot to foot and looking around... Or maybe this was just a sign he needed another cigarette. Lukas was trying to keep himself warm too with the shifting, for despite the coat it was still rather cold out her; the shifting was too little movement though and it wasn't really helping him at all. The man glanced to BlackGargomon a moment, seeming almost as if he were silently telling her to hurrying this up so they could go back. They'd already been out here way too long in his personal opinion, however that could be said for even a single step outside of the A.I.R camp... Suffice to say he didn't like the digital world much.
When everything around you either talked when it shouldn't or wanted to kill you, Lukas didn't see how else there was to feel.

TobuCatmon
▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯
TobuCatmon barely had the time to acknowledge how much this situation sickened her before BlackGargomon's vulcans were aimed for her once more, a spray of bullets heading toward the feline monster. The cat's ears fell back in alarm, quickly attempting to maneuver herself in a manner to miss most of the rabbit's attack. There was a level of success, though as last time she found herself unable to miss the bullets completely. With a pained yelp, she nearly found herself shot right out of the sky... though determination alone kept her wings beating and her body in the air. Before Tobu cound even process the thought she felt herself moving out of instinct alone, twisting around in a effort to attack-
"TOBUTOBU PHOENIX! "
It was as if the cat had taken the freezing wind and twisted it into a tight spiral, almost like a small tornado aimed for BlackGargomon and Lukas. Normally, Tobu might feel ashamed that she was attacking more than just digimon, but her body worked to protect itself on its own. Not to mention, as far as TobuCatmon was concerned, Lukas needed a lesson as far as digimon went. They weren't just pets or pawns as he already seemed to be treating them... they didn't live to serve anyone! It almost frustrated her more to see BlackGargomon so reluctantly doing his work than the fact she was being attacked for their own gains.
"Don't you have any respect for yourself?" Tobu snarled to the other champion, still laboring herself with keeping her form in the air. It might seem pointless to be doing such a thing... that it was only tiring her out more. However, Tobu almost found she was afraid to touch the ground now... that once she was taken from the sky she had absolutely no chance at escaping.
Maybe she was being a little harsh, but... No. No, she didn't think she was being harsh at all. BlackGargomon may be reluctant to attack, but the fact was she was still attacking. TobuCatmon very much expected an answer from the digimon, honestly baffled why anyone would willingly belittle themselves for someone who didn't even seem to be paying attention to the situation. Was that how little he care? ...How above them he thought himself to be? The thought sickened the cat monster more, her lip curling upward to bare her teeth in disgust.
"You don't deserve a partner!" Tobu found the words leaving her mouth before she could restrain herself, fur on end as her eyes narrowed themselves on Lukas. It was possible she was coming to conclusions... after all she had barely known the two for longer than a few minutes. However, it had been there since the moment she spotted them -- the feeling that something was off. TobuCatmon wasn't one to throw around insults, but she wasn't speaking out of spite... her words far more than that. She really didn't believe Lukas deserved to have a digimon at his side, at least from what she could already tall about the boy.

"TOBUTOBU PHOENIX! "BlackGargomon's eyes widened at the attack, and instead of moving to avoid it she simply crossed her arms in front of her and ducked her head down as if she planned to just take it... She couldn't move out of the way in time anyway. Part of her felt like she deserved this anyway for what she was doing, even if she was being so reluctant and unwilling. She felt so guilty, she felt like just turning around and running away... But she'd just get caught again and this time she would probably be stripped down for data and used to make the false digivices better. The beast digimon didn't cry out or budge from her spot as the attack his her, merely shutting her eyes and waiting for it to pass; she might have been concerned for Lukas' well being if he was nicer and if she didn't know he'd have the brains to get himself out of the attack's path.
The young man was honestly surprised by the fact that the attack was heading for him too, cursing under his breath and quickly moving to the side. Lukas had never been in a situation like this since he always stayed at the camp, he was never too far away from there and he definitely had never really been close to a fight. He was annoyed to say the least and took out his cigarettes and his lighter, deciding he really needed one now whether it was windy of not; he'd gotten one lit before and he was quite sure he could do it again. So the frustrating process of fighting the wind and trying to get a flame to his cancer stick began again, once again tuning out the battle out like he had appeared to be doing before."Don't you have any respect for yourself?"BlackGargomon gave a little shaky sigh and sort of shook herself off, body stinging from the attack she had forced herself to endure. She couldn't bring herself to look up at Tobucatmon in the slightest with how ashamed she felt at the moment, vulcans spinning pointlessly as if the noise might comfort her somehow. It didn't though as she was still stuck in this situation, facing a digimon who had to think she was lower than dirt, still stuck partnered with a man who believed she had no emotions and felt nothing... Nothing would make this better. "I... well... n...I h-have to... or..." She found herself unable to continue and excuse her behavior, because even if she did tell the flying cat monster defiance meant death that it would gain her no sympathy of any kind."You don't deserve a partner!"Lukas blinked at the words that were yelled to him, finally getting his cigarette lit at the same time and taking a kind of long drag on it before he went to respond; he felt like it this time. "Of course I don't... Zhat's vhy she isn't a real partner." He said calmly, some smoke flowing from his mouth as he spoke. BlackGargomon was faintly surprised by what her faux partner was saying, daring to look up towards him a little and noting that he was looking back up at Tobucatmon with no fear or nervousness... It was like he was talking to something he didn't care at all about, which was true. Her eyes went to the other champion digimon a moment before looking back down, taking this tiny bit of conversation as a sign she didn't have to attack again just yet.

TobuCatmon
▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯
TobuCatmon had no tolerance for BlackGargomon's response, eyes still narrowed at the two as she tried her best to keep herself aloft. The cat was having trouble keeping herself up however, wings shaking as she continued to strain them. She really regretted having not stopped to rest earlier, both because she had little strength to deal with this and also the fact that this entire situation may have been avoided. Her returning an attack really hadn't helped either, finding it had only aided in tiring her further. BlackGargomon barely seemed affected by it too, the feline's hopes of getting out of this situation safely beginning to dwindle. She had to face it... things weren't looking too good for her. That didn't mean she would give in however -- no Tobu would never give in as long as there was something she could do about it.
"Why do you even want to capture me? So I can turn into something like her?" Tobu hissed, mind already working to put this together. Of course... of course the two weren't real partners. Then TobuCatmon wasn't sure what they were, having little knowledge of A.I.R. and the things they did. The champion had heard the name thrown around, along with something about capturing digimon... but she never knew why. Honestly, Tobu questioned the reality of what she'd heard from others. By the sound of it, the whole thing had seemed like a big rumor to scare others and keep them out of a certain area or something of the like. Never had the cat considered that this might be something to genuinely worry about... something that would never happen to her when it turned out to be real.
Well, here it was.
Right in front of her face. Actually happening to her.
...I have the worst luck.
It was a rare feeling, but TobuCatmon was beginning to panic slightly, heart beating quickly as she tried to work out a way out of this. This shouldn't be hard... Tobu had won fight after fight before. She could do this, even if this time around she was alone... not as strong; TobuCatmon refused to give in without a fight. With the risk of over exerting herself, the cat suddenly shot toward BlackGargomon, hoping to catch the other champion off guard as she did-
"SPINNING FLIGHT!"
The feline monster spoke quickly, voice winding up near the end as her body began to spin around rapidly... dashing past BlackGargomon with green and red claws extended and expected to rake across any vital areas to the rabbit's hide. Whether the attacked missed or hit, TobuCatmon found herself skidding down to the snow-clad ground behind the other two afterward, mouth agape as she took several heavy breaths. This was taking more out of her than she expected, the fur along her spine standing on end as panic stuck to her relentlessly.
She hated this... she hated this place! Normally, she would face a challenge intelligently, carefully calculating every action she made before doing anything. Never did she act on an impulse... which was exactly what she was doing here. This place, the frozen wasteland she had decided to return to... it was ruining her focus. Why did she ever come back here? TobuCatmon wasn't sure, though she realized whatever she had been searching for... well, it was long gone from this place.

"Why do you even want to capture me? So I can turn into something like her?"Lukas kept his gaze on Tobucatmon at her words, wondering if he should even bother answering her when he didn't exactly care if the flying cat monster knew what was going on or not. Whether she knew or not, nothing about the situation would change; BlackGargomon would still take her down and he would still be dragging her back to the A.I.R camp. The champion digimon would still be thrown into a cage and she would still be sold to whoever wanted her, this much the young man felt had been decided. It wasn't because he so egotistically believed that this mission would end in success, but simply because it was a fact that the digimon would be captured simply because he refused to go back to the camp empty-handed.
No Lukas didn't want to be out here, but he damn well better have something to show for wasting all this time in this frozen wasteland.
Even if he wasn't doing any of the actual work like Oswell would if he was the one who was out here doing this, he still would not tolerate failure. He would not trudge back through the snow and ice all that way and all the way back to camp, just to tell everyone he had not be able to secure a target. None of what Lukas was thinking showed in his expression at all though, and he merely stayed silent and surveyed the situation with an uncaring expression. He was only faintly angry about the fact that BlackGargomon was just standing there mumbling when she could be fighting, after a moment even bothering to give a somewhat demanding look as if to urge her on into doing something more productive than just standing there.
BlackGargomon caught the look and gave a faint whimper, as she wasn't anymore willing to be in this situation than she had been a moment ago. She gave an anxious spin of her vulcans as she tried to get herself to raise them, but it was easier said than done as she found her body rather unwilling to move. The attack had affected her more than she initially thought, wincing faintly as she finally managed to raise her arms up into an attacking position. However by then it was already to late and Tobucatmon was calling out her attack, making the rabbit digimon freeze up as she was already just waiting for the attack to hit her."SPINNING FLIGHT!"BlackGargomon watched as the champion digimon came barreling towards her, shaking a little before actually going and attempting to dodge; no matter how guilty she felt, she knew incompetence in battle like this could be just as bad as defiance. As a result she managed to nearly sidestep the attack, only gaining a few scratches down her side as Tobucatmon went flying past her. The rabbit digimon stood very still for a few moments and ignored the pain in her side before slowly turning to see what had become of the other digimon. She didn't do anything at first and just frowned at how tired the cat monster seemed, vulcans spinning idly as she realized she was now expected to shoot her unwanted opponent even without seeing the nearly demanding look Lukas was giving her.
Even so she stalled a little, merely taking aim at Tobucatmon but not firing; she would not attack with the other digimon's back to her.

TobuCatmon
▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯
Painfully, TobuCatmon's wings raised to fan out over her -- a last resort action she used in hopes of intimidating the two in seeming bigger. Her limbs were shaking though, wings unable to keep their position as simply raising them over herself was proving too much for her. Breath forming into small puffs of smoke in the freezing air as she tried to catch her breath, she realized how weak she was at the moment... not just physically, but mentally as well.
Were this any other place, Tobu may have found the strength to restrain herself... to reserve her energy and find a way out of this situation. However, the champion couldn't think here, each gust of wind chilling her to the bone and forcing he to revisit the last fight she'd taken here. Heh, the weather would never change in this place. It was always so unbearably cold... just like it had been on that day...
...No no, don't think about that. Not now.
It was impossible to keep the images from her mind however, momentarily silenced as she fought them off. It was a good thing BlackGargomon hesitated in attacking once again, since TobuCatmon most likely wouldn't have moved in time. When she finally reestablished herself into reality, her gaze darted from Lukas to BlackGargomon... and then back again. It annoyed her that he hadn't answered her, fur still standing on end as she continued to wait for an answer. It wasn't like her to be so impatient, however she disliked being disrespected by anyone... and as far as these two were concerned neither of them deserved her respect since they seemed to have so little for her. Or even themselves for that matter.
"Am I not even worth an answer to you?" Tobu spoke loudly, voice demanding despite the weakness that was beginning to spread throughout her body. She wasn't going to be able to keep this up much longer, if the digimon didn't think of something soon she might as well give up now. As a last resort, Tobu stepped forward, giving BlackGargomon a challenging look as if to tell her she was still ready to fight in hopes maybe the other would back down. The chances were slim, but it was the only thing Tobu could think to do at the moment with her mind so muddled.

Lukas seemed unaffected by TobuCatmon's attempt to make herself seem more threatening, just exhaling more smoke and watching with a nearly nonexistent sense of interest. BlackGargomon on the other hand actually seemed to shrink back a little despite the fact that she knew the other digimon wasn't actually any bigger, seeming intimidated all the same and earning her an annoyed look from her fake partner. The young man really did not care for the fact that she was wasting time like this, wondering why on earth the rabbit digimon still hasn't attacked the target when the cat monster was obviously on its last legs and could be very easily taken down with another attack. He was about to command her to do so as his patience was wearing rather thin, and he was absolutely fed up with standing out her while the champion digimon beside him fought with her sense of morality and other useless things."Am I not even worth an answer to you?"His cold eyes focused on TobuCatmon at the question, staring at her a moment as if he still had no intention of even speaking to her... However after a few moments he seemed to relent, exhaling loudly as if this was a hassle for him. "...To be honest, no you aren't." He said lowly, after a moment taking the cigarette from his mouth and dropping it before sort of grinding it into the ground with his foot. He hadn't wanted to finish it so quickly and he hadn't really meant to of course, it usually just seemed to happen that way; a real hassle at times since it made him more prone to running out. Lukas gave a faint cough as if the cancer stick was catching up with him a little, but other than that he seemed fine and just ignored it as he proceeded to finally answer the cat digimon's question.
He figured it was either that or she would never shut up about it and they'd end up having to stay out here even longer, and he was not about to tolerate that.
"I figure I vill anyway though, if it vill make you be quiet." Lukas said in that same low and nearly uncaring voice, slipping his hands into his pockets after a moment. "I vork for a group called A.I.R, und today I'm supposed to catch a digimon. Unfortunately for you, you vere the one ve found." He said as he looked away for a moment, starting to seem a little distracted and almost nervous somehow... His hand was already fiddling with the pack of cigarettes in his pocket, but he tried to refrain from taking another one out. He ended up just pulling his hands from his pockets to keep himself from taking another one out, but he didn't seem to know what to do with his hands, fingers seeming to twitch just a little bit. The young man tried to ignore his fidgeting hands for the time being though, refocusing on TobuCatmon.
"I am to capture you, und take you back to camp. I vould prefer you were alive so if you're villing to cooperate...?" He trailed off a little as he offered her the choice to give in, watching her quietly as he decided not to say anything more than that. Lukas wasn't sure why he even bothered giving the flying cat monster a choice though, as opposed to not just letting BlackGargomon beat the champion digimon into submission. He didn't dwell on it very long though and just for once tried to resist taking out yet another cigarette, looking to his faux partner a moment as if to make sure she was still ready to fight if need be. The rabbits vulcans were still fixed on TobuCatmon though she of course didn't look anymore willing to fight, as he had expected given that she was like this before deleting digimon as well.
Nothing about the beast digimon's behavior was surprising anymore, she had become something predictable.

TobuCatmon
▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯
TobuCatmon felt her limbs tremble as Lukas spoke; both from exhaustion as well as the gravity of what he was saying. Was... she scared? The feeling was somewhat foreign to her, honestly taking a moment to even acknowledge what the feeling was. Tobu usually had the sense to keep herself calm in situations like this, not letting her fears get in the way of making decisions. However... she could barely think at the moment, even her voice shaken as she went to speak again, "Th...that... that doesn't even answer my question!"
Lukas had told her what he was doing, even where he was taking her... however he failed to say why. That fact alone frightened her, imagination coming up with several answers to this question herself -- none of which she was particularly fond of. Before she could rationalize her actions, Tobu found herself shaking her head frantically, weakly stepping back.
"I... No. I'm not going with you. You're not taking me anywhere!" Tobu protested with a hiss, the fur along her spine and shoulders coming to stand on end. The champion dug her feet into the snow, anchoring herself there with her claws. Despite how tired she was, Tobu refused to give in... even if it was the smarter thing to do. Aware of the consequences of this, she only felt her panic worsen, muddling her thoughts further.
At this point she was desperate, turning to BlackGargomon and letting her gaze narrow. "You don't deserve to be treated like this... no digimon does. Are you really just going to sit there and blindly do what he says?" TobuCatmon was almost out of breath after speaking, her fear overriding her again and making her sick a moment. The duo in front of her was beginning to remind her of things she would rather not think of, looking between the rabbit to the boy and then back again.
"You don't have to listen to him, he doesn't own you! That's not what partners are!" Tobu's voice was beginning to hint at her desperation, the cat stepping back again. She began to wonder if this was really happening... after all, it wouldn't be the first time she had such a realistic nightmare take place here. However, as much as she wanted to believe it was, she couldn't deny this was real. She might be frightened, but not to the point where she was about to dismiss reality. Tobu wasn't sure if she would ever let herself become that scared of anything again.

"Th...that... that doesn't even answer my question!"Oops... All that talking and he hadn't even answered her.
This was becoming more of a pain than was necessary at this point, really just wishing the cat's next words had been 'alright, I will go with you'... But that would just simply be too easy now wouldn't it? Lukas' expression stayed free of a great deal of his irritation though as he just stared at Tobucatmon, seeming as if he was trying to figure something out about the digimon; in all likelihood it was just him trying to figure out something that might make her surrender, whatever that could be. It was harder to manipulate sentient being when you didn't know them, though at the same time what exactly was there to manipulate other than a lump of data with a collection of useless memories. That's all digimon were to him in the end really, as he had acknowledged the fact they could remember, but everything else such as memories and a true personality did not exist to him.
Even BlackGargomon, who he knew very well... Even the quiet and calm demeanor she had was nothing but something programmed into her. It was fake, it was empty, and it meant absolutely nothing; just because the thing next to him could show sadness and regret didn't mean it was actually feeling those things, not in Lukas' mind anyway. The flying cat monster before him was no different, nothing she appeared to be feeling was real, it was all just a program contained in her data. That's all they were when it came down to it right? Walking, talking computer programs; that's how he thought of all digimon, and last time he checked anything programmed wasn't really genuine.
It was like someone being forced to apologize to someone or compliment someone; it wasn't being done because it was genuine, it was done because something told them to do it."I... No. I'm not going with you. You're not taking me anywhere!Lukas watched quietly as TobuCatmon hissed at them, noting how the fur along the champion's spine rose just like a real cat's would when they felt threatened. The difference here being that a cat was real, and the digital monster before him was just that; digital, and therefore a completely different case. He noted how the flying cat monster's gaze went to BlackGargomon, the rabbit digimon almost flinching from the narrowed gaze and starting to shake faintly as she anticipated being dragged into this argument... Not even this seemed real to the young man. He said absolutely nothing as the other digimon went on to try and tell his fake partner she didn't deserve to be treated like this and... Well actually he really didn't hear the rest, because by the middle of the cat monster's sentence he had already tuned her out and just started wondering when he could finally have that next cigarette.
BlackGargomon on the other hand almost had to listen as TobuCatmon spoke to her, feeling more shame as she realized how tired and desperate the other digimon was by this point. She gave a very faint whimper as she listened to the cat digimon speak, absently spinning the barrels of her vulcans a little as an almost automatic response to the stress she was feeling. She felt almost helpless at the moment as she struggled to figure out how exactly to respond to the cat digimon, pulling her guns to her chest and seeming to fidget some as she continued to stay quiet. The champion digimon looked down at the frozen ground, starting to feel herself clam up some like she usually would in situations where she couldn't deal with it."You don't have to listen to him, he doesn't own you! That's not what partners are!"BlackGargomon shook her head almost frantically at what TobuCatmon was saying, the barrels on her vulcans spinning again as she took a moment to calm herself down. "...He... Does own me... He bought me... Just like someone will buy you after..." She trailed off at this as if she couldn't speak anymore suddenly, lowering her arms to her sides finally as she tried to get her voice back. "...And... If I don't... Listen then they'll... Delete me... And do something with my data... And I won't come back..." The rabbit digimon murmured lowly, once again spinning the barrels on her vulcans as she shifted uneasily. After a few moments she gave a shaky exhale and raised her guns again to point them back at TobuCatmon, but she didn't shoot just yet... She wanted to see what the other digimon would do just yet.

TobuCatmon
▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯▮▯
With ears back, TobuCatmon listened to BlackGargomon speak, trying to hold back the rumbling growl that was forming in her throat. What the other was saying... were there people who actually did that? Tobu didn't want to believe it, gaze shooting from the champion to Lukas and then back again. Despite whatever she wanted to tell herself, the digimon couldn't deny what she was seeing... and by the way the two interacted with one another it only made sense. They weren't partners, not real ones anyway. And they wanted to do the same thing to her? No... no no... Tobu would subject herself to that, curling her lip in utter disgust.
"...T-that..." the feline trailed off, exhaling deeply and moving her eyes to Lukas, letting a small growl emit from her chest. She didn't know how any of this worked, how digimon were taken and sold like pets or slaves. There was no excuse for it and anything anyone said in its defense would only aid in frustrating her further. "You're despicable." Tobu's voice lowered as she spoke, wings rising slowly as ripples of energy spark through her. Something was overcoming her exhaustion, though it was nothing more than a burst of adrenaline... fear.
They couldn't take her...
...they wouldn't.
Before Tobu could rationalize reserving her energy, she kicked herself upward, wings spread out to lift her off the ground... however rather than moving to try and escape she found herself darting toward Lukas. It had always been one of her own personal restraints... that she would never attack a human -- not a being that couldn't defend themselves like a digimon could. Yet, here she found herself going after the man in front of her, claws outstretched and fangs bared.
Of course, Tobu didn't have it in her to actually harm him, not like a vicious animal anyway. The most she would do was knock him over, maybe even pierce his shoulders with her claws if his pet didn't do something about before she could. She was actually curious what BlackGargomon would do... or at least she would be if she had taken this situation lightly. Her mind wasn't too clear however and she was really just working to keep herself alive and free -- no one wanted to be captured against their will and sold.
TobuCatmon really hadn't the slightest idea what she was hoping to achieve through this, acting on instinct more so than anything. If Lukas was going to treat her like an animal... well, than she might as well treat him no differently.
