You were brought into this world because somebody wanted you.
High sun...warm air...What better place to take a vacation than the digital world?
Not just the digital world, but the continent of Server - which had been well-recommended by Dracmon as the perfect spot to relax. When he had suggested going to an Amusement Park, Mouse couldn't refuse. Especially when she was told that this place was almost always empty - that would mean only the two of them could have fun. No long lines... no litter... no crying children.... just her and her partner.
Unfortunately the walk to the amusement park took their much-needed energy that was necessary for riding all the rides and having their fun. Once they caught sight of the ferris wheel amongst other structures they came to a stop. Both Mouse and Dracmon dropped to their knees and gave a relieved sigh. Finally, they'd made it, but both were far too tired to continue. Instead, they both silently agreed to take a nap and sprawled out on the grassy hill beside each other... watching the clouds roll by slowly.
Mouse’s appearance in the digital had been beginning to scare her. Luckily it had become less and less frightening with each visit. She had become gentle, loving, not the monster that she was the first time she entered the digital world. Though she still had the marks across her face, the red that surrounded her irises had finally disappeared. With her recovering psyche, she was looking more human. Mouse didn’t feel lonely or that everyone she had stumbled across would betray her. She was, for the first time in a very long time, perfectly content. Not a worry or care in the world.
“Hey Dracmon…?” “Yes, love?” “The digimentals… how many are there?”
Haha. This again. Ever since Mouse received her digimental of Love she had been asking him all kinds of questions regarding his world. Lucky for her he had the patience of a saint when it came to his partner and only his partner. If any other human or digimon had decided to pester him with this stuff he wouldn't have been so generous. Of course, Dracmon wasn't exactly the most savvy when it came to the digital world's ancient items.. but he'd do his best to satisfy his partner's curiosity.
“In total?… Not sure! Plenty to go to each and every digidestined that deserves one!”
'Deserves one'... That comment made Mouse's heart swell.
Their conversation continued for a while, how there were different types, shapes, and the evolutions that came along with them. He explained that depending on what virtue one earned acted like an elemental suit of armor. Reptiles for Courage, Mammals for Friendship, Wings for Love... Hm. Wings. Out of all the things that Dracmon could have turned into... he became an angel. A small smile graced her lips as she thought of this, starting to fade out of the conversation as she recalled the events that night. The fight with Arachnemon...Dracmon's first evolution to DexDorugamon and then Angemon. They had grown so much.
“You didn’t ask me these questions when we first met!”
“I guess just getting the digimental has really… inspired me…” Mouse admitted with a blush, fiddling nervously with her digivice. Part of her was beginning to worry she was annoying her beloved partner but Dracmon rarely ever felt anything besides adoration for her. “I’m proud…of myself. For once.”
. . . Dracmon's ever-lasting grin softened into something genuine. His little girl, plagued by the dark spore that laid dormant inside her... that girl that not so long ago had enjoyed seeing pain inflicted on others... she had actually found something to be proud of. He had been proud of her as well, but he knew he didn't have to voice this for her to know it. Mouse wouldn't let him praise her anyway, and quickly interrupted him with another question.
"Will you digivolve again? Into... another form?"
This caught him by surprise. The eyes imbedded in his hands gave a confused blink. Digivolve again? He never thought that he'd heard something like that from her - Mouse wasn't the kind who lusted for power. “Well...there's always the crests." After saying this he knew right away that she'd ask about that, too. So he took this opportunity to explain right away. "Which is something that will help me digivolve further than DexDorugamon or Angemon~ Buuuut… searching for one takes time and effort… neither of which I’m interested in wasting. SO LET’S RELAX~!”
Despite what he thought, Mouse wasn't interested in the power that came with another digivolution. The idea that she could earn yet another power excited her...it gave her drive. However, she could tell her partner was becoming tired after answering all these questions, and decided to allow him to rest. “If you’re sure~” she cooed to him, adjusting her position on the grass and placing her hands behind her head. Mouse took the time to let her eyes slide shut, daydreaming about all that had happened between she and Dracmon since they first met. Back when he was Tsumemon coming through her computer.
It had been so long…
- - - ☠ - - -
“Aww don’t look so afraid! I’m your digimon partner, dear! You were taking too long to come find me in the digital world so I braved cyberspace myself and lo’ and behold! We have finally met.”
“I think I’ll call you Mousey.”
“I’ve felt your pain and distress for a very long time. But don’t worry. I’m here now… to protect you.”
“You’ll never be alone again.”
- - - ☠ - - - The promise seemed so farfetched at the time, but Tsumemon hadn't lied to her. After all that they had gone through together, the good and the bad, he was still there for her. Beside her, right here on the grass that didn't itch but felt soft, the air was so clean and pleasant here. The more she focused on the environment the more she felt her body become heavier and heavier with unconsciousness. Mouse had even began to dream, her recollection of meeting Tsumemon becoming nothing more but a white void with her standing alone in the middle. The silence was pleasant, by no means suffocating. Everything was so euphoric... so calming... so perfect... she wished that she could be like this forever, if only she wasn't alone. Mouse would soon discover she would regret that wish, her sight suddenly blocked by rows of sharp fangs and a voice that was too close to her own.. . . YOU'RE NOT RID OF ME YET.!? “Mouse!? Mouse, wake up!”Mouse started with a fright when she felt hands around her shoulders, jerking backwards and eyes widening to see that Dracmon had been holding her. Despite the digimon's lack of facial features to show it, she could tell he was worried. Tentatively, he removed his hands from her arms but kept them hovered over her as if he was worried that she may break. “You started screaming in your sleep!”The girl sat upright, breath short and hitched. Her entire body was coated in cold sweat as she reached up to wipe her brow with the back of her hand. Her attention turned towards Dracmon who had been staring at her as if she were a ghost. He had never heard her shout before... let alone scream. The digimon knew that he certainly never wanted to hear that sound again. The two sat in silence while Mouse fought to regulate her breathing. Not even the scene of the sunset on the park's lake was enough to soothe her from that horrible vision. Not only was the picture in her mind terrifying... but the fact she could tell that the monster was her. Then there was the sound of its voice... it had been her own but in sync with something else... something... demonic. As she tried to collect her thoughts, Dracmon decided to speak up again while resting his hands delicately on her knee. “What did you see, Mousey? I wouldn't be surprised if the entire digital world heard you.” ooc; oh my god ;-; I'm like legitly embarrassed how out-of-control this post got. Please PLEASE don't feel like you have to mirror it's length. TLDR - They're sitting on the grassy hill facing the amusement park, it's sunset, and Mouse just had a nightmare in which she screamed on the top of her lungs. The rest is just flashbacks/conversation/dream sequence. I PROMISE my next posts won't nearly be this long XD what is wrong with meee... [/blockquote][/sub][/blockquote]

Even with the sun shining down, rather than the neon lights of the park itself reflecting on the lake, Avari had to admit that the area was quite pretty, if desolate. Not that the solitude was a bad thing - apparently there were never enough people in the Digital World to fully populate the sprawling landscapes or towns, and this park was no different.
She had gotten here rather early, but there had been no pressing need to do more than just sit around or examine a few of the rides. She couldn't say she wanted to live here, not in certainty, but... there was a lack of expectation or routine here that was enjoyable. Despite the risks of travelling, she found it easier to go back each time.
It was ironic, how much she talked sometimes when she lied - people focused on her being a talkative person, another shield, and it wasn't difficult to just go on and on about nothing. And yet, she found that she valued the silence more, when there was no one around that she had to speak to, and she could just... rest. In those silences, she could also admit that despite her suspicion of BlackGabumon, he was... hardly irritating. He defended her from other Digimon, warned her if there were other people around and was altogether useful.
"BlackGabumon?" he turned to look at her, and she continued, assured that he was listening. "I know some other partners can digivolve to Champion, and... more than that. You can't, can you?"
After a moment of consideration, he shook his head. "Why?" she pressed, though she had a suspicion of what might be the cause. She had doubted initially - that he had been chosen by destiny for her? It sounded like a story - and though she no longer could question that there had to be something greater involved with her, and those others with partners, she thought she knew what was wrong with them.
"We have no bond," he answered quietly, staring at her as if seeking to gauge her reaction his statement. She nodded and looked out at the lake, the play of light on its surface dazzling.
"Because of me, then." No immediate response, and she was hardly capable of reading his body language with any degree of accuracy. Do you care?"
There was a soft rustle as he moved, the pelt he wore shifting, and she thought he was going to say something when a scream ripped through the air. His reaction was immediate as he growled and whirled around to stare in the direction of the Ferris wheel and the hill near it. She wasn't sure what to say - maybe politely request that they leave, even if it was getting dark - but he just charged ahead, moving with surprising speed. Simply leaving on her own when the sun was setting was not an option, so she ran after him, catching up as he stopped at the foot of the hill, still growling softly.
"BlackGabumon?" Simply calling out his name was rather stupid, but he had always acknowledged her; now he just stared straight ahead, eyes narrowed. It would have been entirely disconcerting if she hadn't caught sight of a human and Digimon pair on the hill, presumably the source of the scream. She didn't recognize the Digimon, which was unsurprising, and the girl looked... odd, but it was hard to tell what was odd about her in the fading light.
Abruptly, she realized that she didn't feel like doing this, but if she walked away now, there was a good chance that BlackGabumon wouldn't even notice, let alone follow her, and she needed the protection. In the end, she just stood there, vaguely uncomfortable and burdened with the usual tension of the threat of someone else nearby. She wanted to leave.

They weren't alone anymore. Dracmon moved his hands from Mouse's knee to hear a growl rumbling in a nearby digimon's throat. His tail stood upright, his body bristling in response to this... but quickly relaxed as Mouse's soft voice eased the tension that was steadily building between the two. "A dog...?"
"No. That's a Gabumon. They're reptiles that wear a special kind of fur or some nonsense like that." Dracmon remarked snidely, but took this time to look over the other digimon with a hint of curiosity. This Gabumon's pelt was black... which must have meant that he was born from a corrupted egg... and that human nearby him... she must have been a digidestined. Hm, well at least he didn't have to fear competition or Mouse swooning over some bad boy with no manners.
Although Dracmon may have not been overly-enthused by their new company, Mouse found herself smiling kindly at the beast digimon and his partner. Her body was still slightly trembling from all the screaming and nightmares... that image of herself looking like that... it wouldn't be leaving anytime soon. The least she could do right now was to try and distract herself.
Once she met the dark blue eyes of the other girl she took a moment to admire her in silence. For once she wasn't fantasizing how easy it'd be to peel the skin off her bones or any kind of morbid thought. The first impulse she had was that she wanted to speak to her, and clear the air of unease that she could feel around Avari. Mouse finally decided to break the silence as she raised her hand a bit awkwardly in a still wave, a giggle tickling her throat as her giddiness of meeting someone new bubbled up inside her.
Dracmon found this...cute. It was certainly a change from the first time he met her and got to know her when she would greet people. It'd usually start with a snarky comment or something morbid or frightening. He wondered... if this was what she was like when she was younger. Before she was infected with the darkness. Needless to say, the digimon took it upon himself to help with Mouse's awkward social graces at this time. The demon took a step forward, gesturing to himself with a flick of his spaded tail. "I'm sure what she is trying to say is, 'hello! I'm Mouse! This is my handsome digimon partner, Dracmon! I do hope we didn't startle you with my screaming, I just had a horrible nightmare!'"
This introduction snapped the girl out of her happy trance and she glanced down to her partner in surprise but gratitude. When facing Avari and BlackGabumon again she pressed her hand behind her own head, shuffling her feet in embarrassment while her cheeks turned a bit pink. "Haha...I'm sorry. I guess I'm just glad to see someone else here..." she admitted softly...bashfully. Socializing was difficult but no longer impossible.
She willed the natural color back to her face as she cleared her throat... attempting to hide how awkward she had been just then. "What's your names?" she asked, a little glint of excitement in her eyes, "Did you come to ride the rides, too?"

Avari hadn't expected such a... normal gesture.
Well, she wasn't sure if she had expected anything - she could usually predict the assumptions people made, but actual, concrete reactions? They had become harder to pin down. How things were supposed to go had been ingrained into her, different variations on a recurring theme, but...
Sometimes, she felt as if she was losing sight of that particular fragment of knowledge. Or maybe she had lost it already, because she was not as... safe as she had thought herself a few weeks ago.
Still, that didn't mean she couldn't respond to this - she waved stiffly in reply, just as the other's partner Digimon launched into an explanation. After that, it was easier to smile and lie, and she pushed away her unease. "Hi! I'm Shion, and this is... well, he's acting kind of weird right now, but this is BlackGabumon. We came here just... it looked nice, you know? To walk around in when there aren't a lot of people. I'm not really big on the rides, but..." She shrugged and took a step closer. BlackGabumon, predictably enough, didn't move and she turned to look back at him, curious and bewildered by the change in temperament.
He had never acted like this before, but then, she had hardly known him for long. There was little she could base an assumption on, or guess as to the reason for his behaviour. While she knew that she didn't reciprocate whatever he felt for her, it would be stupid to ignore his condition. He was her only form of protection here, after all.
"BlackGabumon, are you alright?" she asked, trying to sound concerned - but she could tell that it sounded... wrong. She found it hard to lie to him, and that apparently stretched to addressing him when someone else was around. Still, she reached out, fingers tentatively brushing at his horn - she didn't really want to make the contact, especially when he could potentially snap at her.
He blinked and slowly shifted, turning first towards her, and then back to the pair to study them at length. "You startled me," he said at last, which she supposed was both an apology and an explanation. She smiled, and then turned back to... Mouse, her partner had introduced her as that. A rather odd name.
"I'm sorry to hear about your nightmare! I've always hated having them..."
She never dreamed any more.
