She never would have thought she could end up here. Everything was so soft and gentle. At the corner of her eye Irene noticed Tokomon trotting around. Her face grew a soft smile. The timid girl glanced up to take a look at the place. Wow, so many eggs ... probably this is where he came from. She was right. As far as the eye could see, digieggs were scattered in various colors and patterns. Irene sat down on the soft surface only to watch her partner explore. " So why are we here?" Honestly she couldn't remember how she ended up in the digital world. Tokomon hopped over then bounced into her lap. He was wiggling and a little hyper today. It took him a while to calm down and think through of what he was going to say. " Just because." Short and not a very straight answer. Irene sighed and petted her companion. She wasn't even sure if they were allowed here. Nonetheless, it felt like a dream. A non-lucid dream. She didn't mind it, but Irene thought it would be nice staying at home to rest. What really bothered her was the fact she forgot her little book. Being here gave her ideas and inspiration. Sadly she cannot simply hold on to those thoughts for long. That's why she had a book to begin with. She sighed and lowered her head in shame. Well what now? Irene looked around once more. It didn't seem like anyone was here. She couldn't help but feel that there was someone else here besides herself and Tokomon. " Hey Tokomon ... you said you had the capability to grow, correct?" She had to do something to break the ice. Tokomon lowered his ears and looked at her slowly. " Correct." He didn't feel comfortable discussing it. Although he didn't want to ignore her questions. Both of them stayed quiet for a while. " Is there a reason why you haven't?" " I'm not sure. Maybe we're missing something." " ... Maybe." She repeated.

No matter who you are, everybody is born to eventually die some day and reincarnate as a new living being. It was the most sacred of rules in the digital world and there was not a single digimon who could escape from the endless cycle of life, death and rebirth. And in this place was where all life lost to time or fatality was recycled to give birth to a new entity. It was the village of beginnings.
This place of new beginnings rarely had any visitor because it was a symbol of both life and death. However, this day it was going to receive a visit from a digimon with an unusual goal that nothing had to do with this place in particular and had everything to do with what few mature lifeforms were currently in the area.
"Hello?"
It was an Alraumon. She had just recently arrived from the wire desert and the village of beginnings was the next stop in her journey through the file island. She looked around searching for non-baby digimon but there was nobody nearby.
However, not everything was going to waste. Even if she weren't to find anyone here, she still had what little remained of those fond memories about this place. The plant digimon barely remembered anything at all about the village of beginnings, but the feeling of calmness and peace ... it was so overwhelming that she wanted to simply lie on the mattress-like floor.
"Is there anyone here?"
Alas, there would be time to relax later. First she wanted to search a bit more for other digimons and if she found no one ... well, there was no reason to have a small nap in this wonderful land brimming with new life and hope.

"Is there anyone here?"The moment Tokomon heard a faint voice he was eager to respond and forget about the topic. His little feet pitter-pattered across the fluffy terrain. Irene was taken by some surprise of how fast he could move. She herself was taking her time to follow him. The small lass was looking at her feet this whole time, and was occasionally glancing over at the colorful eggs. " Hello? Excuse me! Miss!" Tokomon called out. His feet couldn't keep up with the momentum, leading the small digimon toppling all over himself. He landed in front of the plant digimon's feet. After a pause Tokomon picked himself up. His pink face turned a crimson red before speaking once more, " That was a little embarrassing." Irene wasn't far behind and caught up with her partner. She giggled a little before picking him up. Her eyes met with the other digimon and she blushed. Irene took a small step back then looked away a little. Tokomon looked over at her with a smile, then gestured her to wave. Irene hesitated for a moment before doing so. " H-hi." She uttered. Her voice was so quiet even Irene couldn't hear herself. Tokomon wiggled a little to escape her grip then plop down to the ground. Luckily he landed on his feet instead of on his side. " Don't worry, she is just shy." He gave a gentle smile to the other digimon.

She looked in front of her and there was no one except for a pinkish creature rolling on the fluffy terrain. It stopped right in front of her legs and its identity was revealed: He was a male tokomon. The Alraumon was a bit disappointed because she expected more mature digimon to greet her, but at least he wasn't a newborn baby like the others and might be a nice digimon to talk with.
"Oh, hello there. Are you like the big brother of those babies?"
The plant digimon keeled down to talk in the same level with the small digimon and smiled at the little guy. At first she thought he was a caretaker or a grown up baby from a previous batch of newborn digimon, but the unexpected arrival of a human changed the way she saw at the Tokomon; He reacted as if she were his partner and now it was more than obvious he was just passing by along his friend.
"Oh, hai!"
She waved her hands at the human girl and tried to be as friendly as possible. That tokomon mentioned her being shy, and the best way to break through shyness is to be as friendly and comprehensible as possible!
"Are both of your partners? Because then you are the second couple of human and digimon I've seen so far "

Irene made eye contact with the plant digimon as it spoke. First thing that came to mind was why this digimon was all alone. After Alraumon mentioned 'second couple' Irene perked up her head. She knew she wasn't the only one, but wasn't too sure. Let alone that there were actually wild digimon. This was a new world to her so it wasn't like she knew much of Tokomon's homeland. Meanwhile, Tokomon was checking all the eggs. Once again his feet were trotting across the unstable terrain. This time he kept a slow pace so that he wouldn't trip all over himself again. Stripped, Starry, and Hearts, oh my! He loved the uniqueness of each egg. One wasn't like the other, they were all special. This reminded him of Irene. She was special and unique, Tokomon loved that about her. He didn't realized until it was late that he was far away from Irene. " Oh goodness!" With that Tokomon trotted back in a rush. Irene kept an eye on him this whole time. And when Tokomon came back she giggled, " Right. Hey ... um, who were the first couple?" She frowned a little because she thought she didn't phrase her question correctly.

The Alraumon giggled a little at the innocent behavior of the Tokomon. He was brimming with curiosity and didn't remain in the same place for more than a minute. Certainly, it looked like he had been born only a few months before those kids and was still a little kid at heart, going around checking things and easily being impressed by the small treasures of nature.
Eventually, he returned back to the side of his partner, still as energetic as before, and the human girl then made a question.
"Oh, I meet them a few days ago in the Dragon Eye's Lake. They were a human girl called Misaka, and a veemon called veemon. They are nice people."
There was no harm in telling those two complete strangers about the other human-digimon team. The girl and the Tokomon didn't look like bad guys and actually .... they seemed to be rather defenseless, something that might spell doom on them.
"Umm ... not trying to sound a bit mean, but I think none of you should leave this safe area until the Tokomon evolves. Baby digimon are easy prey for bigger digimon outside, and here you can wait and play until is more safe to travel"
The plant digimon tried to be as careful as possible with her words to avoid hurting tokomon's feelings. At first glance, the human seemed to be athletic enough to outrun most of the digimon inhabiting file island and might be sturdy enough to take one or two hits. However, the soft and immature Tokomon only had as advantage his small size and ... things wouldn't be easy for him if he were to meet a predator hungry for data.

A vee-mon? What is that? More questions wandered in the girl's head. She pictured what such a creature would look like. Maybe a puff ball or serpentine creature or something. Irene had another thought pop in her head, maybe she could meet that person named Misaka. "... Baby digimon are easy prey for bigger digimon outside, and here you can wait and play until is more safe to travel."Alas she was right. Tokomon admitted to himself. His feelings were not hurt because it was the truth. The small digimon smiled back and nodded in agreement. " Would you like to play with us?" Irene looked at her partner then a flush of red crept upon her face. She didn't feel like playing, but if he insisted then she was okay with it. Who knows, " We haven't exchanged names haven't we?" She had forgotten that she didn't introduce herself or Tokomon. " ...My name is Irene ... Eaves." her voice grew quiet and a darker shade of red flowed through her cheeks.

"Sure! Choose something and let's play!"
The Alraumon looked at the small Tokomon with gentle eyes and with a smile. Sometimes, it was nice to simply forget about the cruel world outside and simply enjoy life, to play a little and maybe make some friendly acquaintances while she's doing that.
"Nice to meet you, Tokomon and Irene Eaves! I'm an Alraumon, and since a few days ago my name is Himika. I'm proud to say I'm one of the few digimon in the world with an unique name"
She pounded her own chest with the left fist and her face showed a prideful expression. She learned about the power of "names" from that human she met before and really liked the idea of having an unique name. There was something nice about always answering to the same name instead of constantly being called for the name of your current form.

" Well it's a pleasure to meet you Himika the Alraumon." Irene chimed and bowed. She was starting to open up more to the plant digimon. Irene loved that sound of her name. It was very interesting and lovely as the digimon. Irene didn't feel like playing a game. At first she wanted to until something slightly painful took refuge within her knee. The young lady did not show any sign of pain, because she didn't want to worry Tokomon. I could always watch and let them have fun. She would feel horrible if she held them down from playing with each other. You could tell that Tokomon was pondering quite a bit for what game to play. Hide and Seek was good and all, but he didn't feel like playing that. Tag was overused as well and play fighting wasn't Tokomon's favorite game. Maybe a race? He didn't mind running until he took into thought of the terrain. It was too fluffy, but made it more challenging. " Let's have a race!" Tokomon stated finally.

"It's my pleasure to meet you too"
The plant digimon imitated the human and bowed as well. She wondered for a little if that human was raised to be very polite; because not many digimon here bowed to greet people. As much most simply said "Yo!" can be okay with just that.
After that, Irene remained rather quiet as if involved in her own world, and Tokomon seemed to be rather thoughtful, most likely wondering about what to play. As for her, the Alraumon didn't really have any idea. She tried to think about a good game, but she hadn't really played at all in years, let alone try to think about a game a little kid like tokomon could play without having a handicap.
"Oh, that sounds like a good idea "
Luckily, the little digimon saved her from the trouble and suggested to have a race. She didn't want to bother the babies and the random caretaker in the Village of Beginnings, so she looked around for a good route to use for the race, and then she found it: There was not a single baby at sight and there were a few obstacles around, namely large pillars of cube-shaped plushies. It would be both fun and safe!
"That looks like a nice place for the race!"
She pointed at the route she found, went there and waved her hand at the digimon and human duo, gesturing them to follow her.

The small defenseless digimon bounced his way to the other digimon with a wide smile. His face was beaming with joy. And even his feet tip-toed a little dance. This made Irene smile and utter a small chuckle. The human followed the Tokomon with at an easy pace. She was curious why he was so happy now. Before he was uncomfortable, but now he's all sunshine and bliss. While the two looked at the 'race track', Tokomon looked back at Irene. " Are you going to join in?" He asked with glee. Irene shook here head slowly then pointed at her knee. The little pink digimon frowned slightly after her response. He was looking forward for her to participate. " I understand ..." " I'm going to watch. If that makes you feel better." Her voice wavered while she looked at the two. Even though she couldn't race she still wanted to watch. It wasn't like she had another chance to see a race between two digimon. Slowly she walked and seated herself near by Tokomon and Alraumon. " May the best digimon win." Tokomon told the plant.

That Tokomon was really a moodmaker. His mere presence was enough to lift the spirits of everybody and his cute antics would melt even the coldest of hearts. The Alraumon couldn't help but warmly smile as he happily bounced his way towards the race track.
However, that blissful moment wouldn't last for long because the human revealed she wasn't feeling well in the knee, maybe she got injured or strained there the plant digimon wondered. Nevermind, for situations like that the best medicine was to simply take it easy and laugh, so she decided to play with the Tokomon and cheer up the handicapped human.
"Let's do our best "
She answered to the Tokomon's words and prepared to run. As Irene wasn't going to play, the plant digimon suggested her to be the one at charge of signaling the start of the race. Meanwhile and until the race officially began, she looked at the small one who was going to race against her and then she suddenly had an incredible revelation: That she might lose. In a soft cushion-like floor like the one of the Village of beginnings, he had quite the big advantage thanks to his equally soft and bouncy body while she was kinda heavy and her root-like legs weren't really fitting for the terrain. The odds were against her, but then again, she wasn't there to win, she was there to simply have fun and do her best.

" ...On your mark." Irene spoke, just to start things off. She waited for Tokomon and Alraumon to take their places. Tokomon scurried on to the edge of the imaginary starting point and waited for Alraumon. The small digimon kept a smile on his face. He glanced at her feet and thought to himself, Maybe she should win. After all she does have roots for feet. Wouldn't be nice of me to take advantage now would it? How about pacing myself. Or possibly try to make it a close match. Oh the possibilities... Tokomon thought all of this while standing at the starting point. He didn't like losing or winning. If he lost, he would worry about the victor's bragging rights. If he won, he would worry about hurting the others feelings. In Alraumon's case he didn't know how she would take it if she were to win or lose.

Like the Tokomon, the Alraumon ran after the starting point and it was clear that she was having an slightly hard time staying on foot. Too much impulse and she might end up bouncing away!
"I'm all ready! Let's have a nice race and don't hold back."
She smiled at the apparently troubled Tokomon and prepared to race through their improvised racing path. In situations like this one there was no losers nor winners, simply people having fun and that's what she was going to do. She patted the head of the small and soft digimon and concentrated into her running strategy. Other ran running there was also the option of simply jumping from place to place, but that would be against the rule of this being a race.
With nothing else to do, she simply waited for Irene to give the starting signal. It was going to be an enjoyable experience

When the two digimon went to their spots, Irene watched them closely. She had to make sure to determine the winner it it were to be a close match. " Get set..." She spoke. Irene left a long pause for the two that that they could be situated for the race. Tokomon in the meanwhile was staring at the ground then at the finish line then back at the ground again. He figured maybe just to take very fast and compacted steps to minimize the bouncing. Or actually going with the soft terrain. How about trying both, first skittering across the field then bouncing near the end. It seemed like a good idea, " Go." Irene stated. This caught Tokomon off guard. He was thinking too much. A flush of red swelled around his face when he started scurrying. Oh, darn it!
