Investigating the Digital World. It was a much more difficult task than Misaka had imagined, especially when she realized just how vast it was. There weren't just a single location for everything, but divided among itself in smaller islands or hidden away. In her first day back to the world, she had learned nothing about anything to do with AIR. In fact, she hadn't seen anything that would cause her or anyone great concern. It made her wonder if perhaps the group worked in some select location in the world? After all, where else would they kept their captured hostages after acquiring them? But with no idea where to start, Misaka simple took this moment to enjoy the beach-like landscape of Dragon Eye. It was a large lake that held a small beach beside it, making it perfect for a moment of relaxation. Resting her bare feet in the sand as she watched Veemon run along the coast in his attempt to train himself, the girl just leaned back with her arms as support, letting her face become warmed by the sun while it's rays shined down upon her.
Though as she prepared to lay down, a sudden splash of water caught her attention, replacing it with shock as she felt her body become instantly cool and wet at the same time. Opening her eyes as she remained frozen in place, her gaze rested on Veemon, who held what looked to be a bucket that was somewhat wet. Along with the object was an overly huge grin on the dragon's face as he chuckled lightly to himself. It only took a moment for Misaka to put two and two together, smirking as she looked towards the creature while sighing.
"Oh I see now...You think you're funny don't you?"
Taking off her wet hoody and laying it upon the ground, the girl stood up in her shorts and tank top as she then giggled before running towards the Veemon with a smile on her face while the rookie attempted to flee.
"Now you're gonna get it! Get back here Veemon!!"

"Dragon's eye, it is so beautiful ..."
The Alraumon's journey around the world had just started and the first stop was in the Dragon's eye lake. Despite having read many things about this lake, it was her first time actually visiting it and the wonders of nature were simply astonishing. So much beauty, so much life ... this place was the perfect place for most of digimon species to live. However, there were stories about the digimon at the bottom of the lake, somebody who ensured nobody disturbed the tranquility of the lake ...
Nevermind, the plant digimon relaxed body and mind and quietly wandered around the lake, enjoying of the breeze that slipped through the trees, the sunlight that was so precious for digimon like her and the moist feeling in the air ...
Alas, her peaceful stroll around the lake got interrupted by a nearby, noisy Veemon who was playing in the water and soaked ... a strange looking digimon. At first she wondered if the strange creature was a demon man, a god man or any other of those humanoids digimon, but then the word "humanoid" came to her mind.
"Man ... humanoid ... human ... a human!"
That was it! The elder Jureimon often mentioned tales about digimon and "humans" working together to stop an evil force that threatened the digital world years before she was born. Their tales were legend and if they were true, then that meant that something was wrong in the digital world, something so wrong that humans had to be involved again.
She meditated a little about what to do and ... wait, it wasn't the proper time to think about what to do, they were being noisy and could awaken whatever was living at the bottom of the lake! The Alraumon quickly ran towards them until being within their line of sight and looked at them, ready to say something that might be important ... or might be completely pointless because it would take much, MUCH more than a few splashes to wake up the guardian.
"Don't be too noisy, or the lake guardian could wake up"
She looked at the lake and with curiousity in her eyes, wondered if the sea serpent within the depths of its waters was still asleep. According to what Jureimon said, many years passed since the guardian made of the lake its home. So nobody knew if it was still a seadramon or evolved into something even stronger.

Upon hearing the command of the plant-like creature, Misaka and Veemon stopped in their tracks and stared towards one another. While Veemon seemed more annoyed than anything at the interuption of their play, the young teen was actually intrigued with this notion of a Lake Guardian. She hadn't heard a such a being before, but than this was her first time in this location. Still, the very idea that there was something underneath the water was pretty interesting. Placing one hand upon her hip, Misaka blinked as she looked towards the digimon while tilting her head to the side.
"A lake Guardian? Who is that? Some kind of Digimon?"
Veemon looked towards his partner before closing his eyes and sighing. He'd heard the tales of such a being, but he passed them as myth. After all, no one had really ever seen the creature. It was mostly something that was rumored among the Aquatic digimon. That being the case, he didn't think it mattered to those of them that stayed on the land. Mostly because most fish remained in the water, not tried to get on the ground.
"More like a some kind of fish tale....Hehe...fish tale...."
As Veemon laughed at his own joke, Misaka sighed before looking towards the plant creature and waiting for her answer. Though she was honestly more interested in just how a plant was able to move without being rooted to the ground? Though she passed on that kind of questioning for now. After all, there had been stranger things she'd seen in this place.

Luckily, the couple stopped in their tracks and paid attention her words. The plant digimon showed an expression of relief when they obeyed her, but what wasn't really nice was the attitude of the veemon. He seemed to be cocky and maybe a bit arrogant, indirectly mentioning his disbeliefs of the tales of old. Nevermind, at least the human was paying attention and maybe she could convince him to reconsider his position regarding the legends.
"The Lake guardian is a giant sea serpent digimon. The stories says that he or she is a member of the seadramon family who for some reason decided to live in the lake instead of the sea and the ocean"
The "legend" part of the story was over, but now the more juicy part, the one real and confirmed was next. Many myths about the digital world were just that, myths, but others were as real as the existence of humans in the digital world. In fact, the next part of the tale included the once considered legendary humans in it.
"I'm not sure if this other part of the story is real, but my mentor told me it did happen. According to what some digimon witnessed, a few decades ago some humans camped in the mini island inside the lake. They weren't careful and invoked the wrath of the guardian, who attacked them but was defeated. The end."
That was all she knew about the story. If those humans were the ones who later defeated the wicked and infamous Dark Masters, it made sense to think they defeated too the legendary lake guardian.
"And that's all. Now be more careful and play without disturbing the guardian unless you have more questions"
She said, proud of her knowledge. She clearly enjoyed talking about the vast wisdom she inherited from Jureimon, and her facial expression and gestures more than made sure it was noticeable. She turned back and gazed at the lake, it was so quiet and peaceful that it's mere sight soothed her mind. The tranquility of the waters was only interrupted by the wind and the random objects it brought. It was a really nice day to simply enjoy life and the wonders of nature ....

Misaka cupped her hand under her chin, looking to the side as she considered this story. Especially the part that involved humans. It reminded her of the same story she heard from the Yokomon. Could it be the Digi-destined from years ago? If so, then perhaps she might have found something out after all. But that didn't answer the question of what there was to fear? If the lake Guardian had been defeated, then what was in the lake now?
Veemon just crossed his arms as he smirked towards the Alaraumon before shaking his head as well. He wasn't seeing what there was to be afraid of either. Besides, he considered himself to be a pretty tough Digimon, so he could handle something as simple as a water snake.
"Oh come on.....It's just a water snake. Plus, if it got defeated, that means there isn't anything in there.....right?"
The dragon wasn't as sure as he had been a moment earlier. After all, he had remembered that all Digimon could be reborn. That meant that it was possible that the creature could still be there.
"I mean...Not that I care...if it is there, we can take em! Right Misa!?"
"There's an old saying that it isn't wise to look for fights when they can be avoided. Not to mention that I try not to play in water with dangerous sea monsters sleeping in it..."
Seeing the young girl smile towards him, the rookie Digimon sighed as he then rubbed his hand behind his head before chuckling.
"Good point...Still could have taken him though...."
Misaka closed her eyes as she released a sigh from between her lips. Sometimes she worried about the over-confident dragon. But then again, she couldn't help but believe in him as well. It often helped her feel confident too, especially when things looked pretty bad. He was stubborn, just like she was at times.
"Actually....I was wondering if you could tell us anything else about the humans that came here. Was there anything special about them?"

"Defeated, but not destroyed"
She turned back to see the dynamic duo again and corrected the Veemon. According to the stories, the only casualty in the war against devimon many years ago was devimon himself, so most likely the seadramon still lurked in the seas, maybe in an even stronger form than before.
"That's right. In the digital world I want to create, there will be no more need for pointless battles. And more peaceful solutions will be used to solve conflicts."
The veemon seemed to have a bit of battlelust, but the human girl had a more gentle heart. That was precisely one of the main troubles she wanted to correct of the current digital world, there were many battle lusting digimon who killed other digimon just for the sake of fighting. Such behavior was highly encouraged by the "big fish eat small fish" survival of the fittest law that reigned and it was one of the first things that had to go away to improve the lifestyle of all digital lifeforms.
"Eh, about the other humans?"
She was a bit surprised by the sudden question. She thought the girl actually came along another group of humans like it happened in the legends. But if she was alone .... the Alraumon looked at the girl and answered her question.
"The legendary heroes? I only know about them what everybody in file island already knows. They appeared many decades ago to destroy Devimon, then they disappeared for like another decade and returned to beat the Dark Masters."
In her story there were a few missing bits of information. It was because File Island wasn't really affected for what happened in other areas of the world and for what they cared, only Devimon and the Dark Masters were genuine threats worth reminding about.
"The elder of my village said that since then, some humans came in irregular intervals of time to the digital world, but the heroes who defeated the Dark Masters never returned again. I think I met one or two humans before, but that was many years ago and maybe I mistook them for digimon. There's a surprisingly large number of digimon who looks like humans after all, like Angemon"
She walked around the human girl and looked at her from every angle just to make sure she was indeed a human. The only thing separating them from humanoid digimon like angemon and fairymon was their lack of claws, wings, and when asked about it, their species name never has the -mon suffix in them

It was interesting to hear so much about a group that had existed before their own. It meant that a lot of the things they did were remembered to a certain degree by the inhabitants of this world. At least, that was the case with many of the Digimon she had encountered so far. These legendary heroes had successfully defended this world from what seemed to be some pretty tough characters. The ones that interested her the most were this Dark Masters.
"Who exactly were the Dark Masters?"
Veemon blinked as he looked towards Misaka, almost as if she had asked something that was completely unheard of.
"The Dark Masters were some of the baddies Digimon around. They practically had the world under their grip...At least, that was what I heard...I don't think it was that deep...right?"
Looking over towards the plant creature, Misaka soon found herself doing the same as they waited for an answer.

"Like he said, the Dark Masters were terrible digimon who completely transformed the digital world into a terrible world without order."
She rubbed her eyes a bit with her hands and wiped some tears of tiredness from them. She had been walking the whole day and was kinda tired, so she sit in front of the human X Veemon duo and continued.
"I wasn't born yet when that happened, but Jureimon, the elder of my home village, told me tales about what he witnessed in his long life. The Dark masters were digimon of the highest level who one day appeared out of nowhere and conquered all the digital world. "
She picked from the shoulder bag she was carrying a notebook. It had notes from the lectures Jureimon often told to the younger digimon and between them, there was some notes about the digital world of old.
"According to the old history, it was almost impossible for digimon to reach the level beyond ultimate, the mega level. But for some reason, all the dark masters were mega level digimon and abused of their unique power to do what they wanted. Witnesses reported that from the group of heroes, two of them also reached mega level and together, they defeated the apparently invincible evil digimon."
Because the human was traveling along with a veemon, the Alraumon assumed she knew perfectly about evolution levels. So, she omitted any mention about how levels works and contined.
"However, nowadays it looks like it's a lot easier to evolve to the level of the dark masters. I don't really know what happened, but the heroes probably did something amazing that lets us now evolve further than usual"
And that was pretty much all she had to say regarding the Dark Masters and the unfair advantage they had on the rest of the digital world thanks to having access to the level beyond ultimate.

Misaka couldn't help but stare in disbelief towards the Digimon as she found herself sitting down as well. It just seemed so unreal to hear of regular kids being able to accomplish such feats. While she was aware of some of the benefits that came through the evolution process performed by Digimon, she hadn't realized that there was so much more to it. It was enough to wonder where it ended or if it was an ever going cycle?
But how did such people just vanish? It didn't make sense to her. Was this connected to AIR as she had thought or maybe something much bigger? Surely this group had to have made enemies in all the changes they had made. What if something managed to get out and find them? Was it even possible for something bigger than an In-training digimon to come into the Human world? Misaka wanted to find out, but even she was somewhat skeptical. What if she disappeared next for learning something she shouldn't?
"This is a lot to take in...."
Resting one hand on the side of her face, the young girl crossed her legs underneath her before looking towards Veemon who was just sitting down himself. With his legs stretched out before him, the dragon crossed his arms over his chest as he nodded with a serious expression.
"Yup! But that's our world in a nutshell....Big and full of dangerous baddies wanting to ruin it..."
The statement seemed true, but it did bring up another question. Was the dangers of this world the reason why the children had been brought here? Was it all connected to the Digi-vices? The method in which people could travel to and from the Digital World?
" I have one more question.....Um....Oh wow...I didn't even introduce myself did I? Sorry..."
Nodding her head towards the plant creature, Misaka then smiled as she pointed towards herself and then at Veemon.
"I'm Yamashita Misaka...and this Veemon..."
"Yo"

"Sadly, he is right. There's a lot of bad digimon who actively works to make of our world a worse place. I guess the human world has similar problems too"
She was a bit sad for the condition of the digital world, but there was still hope for a better future. She looked at the veemon and smiled at him as he seemed not to be the rude digimon she thought he was but rather he too understood how the current digital world was a place in crisis. It was reassuring to know that even between the digimon partnered with humans there were some who shared her same beliefs.
Then, the human female suddenly smiled and decided to present herself and her partner. Obviously her partner was a veemon, but the humans' name was certainly something interesting.
"Yamashiya Misaka? That's how humans of your type are called? Are there more Yamashita Misakas here and in your home? And what is your evolution level? You look young but not too young, so I think ... you are a Yamashita Misaka, the champion level human!"
She had read a little about humans. Like digimon, they seemed to have specific evolution stages in their lives. Some humans were defenseless in-training babies, other were rookie kids, the more mature ones seemed to be champions and ultimates, and those large and well developed humans would be mega level humans. It made sense after all because they grew older and changed, just like digimon.

It was a funny thing to hear someone classify you as a Digimon. Misaka wasn't sure what to say at first, finding herself giggling lightly while holding her hand close to her lips. The title just didn't seem to fit, considering how she didn't feel like much of a Champion. Maybe a Rookie, but nothing so grand as that. Though perhaps that was made it feel so weird, having a title. While she knew about such things, she never really thought she'd get one. Many people did, but Misaka didn't see herself as part of such a group.
"Well...I'm not sure about that. There are people that share my last name, but there's only one me. My name is kinda unique to only me and a few others out there in the world. But I guess...I'm really just a class of my own..."
Misaka wasn't sure how to define herself as an individual. Especially to someone who seemed to have everyone in a specific level or class. Humans weren't in just one group. They all differed from one another, which is what made them such a diverse group. If they were the same, nothing would define them from each other. Not to say that Digimon where exactly the same as each other. As far as she knew, Veemon was pretty different from other Veemon. But then again, she'd yet to meet another Digimon like him.
"Humans...really don't have levels....At least, not like Digimon. It takes a long time for us to grow...."

"Did I say something funny?"
She made a funny face and smiled at the human and the veemon. That's right, if somebody was smiling, it was just fair for her to smile as well. There were so many bad things in the world that it was a must to treasure those few moment of joy and smiles.
"It's like how there's the greymon family and some are metal greymon whole other rise greymon? Or maybe ..."
Maybe the human didn't notice it, but between the digimon there were quite a few who were part of a "family" and shared the same part of the name. There were some similarities between them and humans and they had differences as well, that's how the Alraumon suddenly realized what the human was talking about.
"Hmm ... I think I'm understanding it now. It must be like when I was a Tanemon. There were a lot of Tanemons in the village, so the elder gave us a nickname to distinguish each other. Because I was just a little kid then and later I become the only Alraumon in the village, I forgot about that."
The whole deal about individuality and uniqueness gave her a good idea. If humans could have an unique name for the entire duration of their lives, why digimon couldn't do the same? The more she evolved, the more times her name was going to change, and things could get a bit weird if she were to find another Alraumon or somebody with the same next evolution level.
"It takes us a long time to grow up too. Many consider rookie level as our childhood stage and champion as our adult stage, and we reach our prime and perfect stage when we are ultimate level. I read before that humans can speed up evolution in digimon, so maybe that's why it's not noticeable the slow change in digimon with human friends."
She paused a little because she was a bit tired and talked a lot and continued.
"Returning to the names ... I like it how the humans do. How about getting a unique name for veemon and me? It is always a bit awkward to change the name each time we evolve"
She looked at the veemon with some excitement about the possibility of becoming more unique than they were. Misaka already had one, so it was more interesting to ask her partner about what he thought about this, in her opinion, cool idea about getting a name to identify themselves forever.
"What do you think? Don't you want a name too, or your are okay with just being veemon and later be something else?"

Naming Digimon. It was a new idea and one that she hadn't really considered. All the time Misaka had been with Veemon, she hadn't thought of calling him by any other name other than what he was known for. In fact, it just seemed to be a natural way of addressing him. So the idea of possibly coming up with names for two wasn't something she was expecting.
Misaka blinked, cupping her hand under her chin as she rested the other at her side. It wasn't as though she were naming a puppy or a goldfish. The names she came up with would likely stick with them for life. That in mind, she didn't want to come up with something that would be terrible. Of course, she had no idea where to start.
"I have no idea.....But..I'll try...any ideas or suggestions?"
Veemon looked towards Alaruramon and smirked as he shook his head and sighed.
"I'm good. I'll stick with being Veemon. Even if I do change, I'll just go with the name of what I am...."

"I see .."
The Alraumon was clearly disappointed. She thought that the idea of having actual names would've excited the Veemon, but he was okay with being just Veemon. At least the human showed some interest but then again, having names was something normal for humans and it wouldn't be easy to convince other digimons about the wonders of having names.
"Personally, I think it would be nice to have a name. It would feel very awkward if I meet another Alraumon and we both share the same name. Besides, all digimon are different like the snowflakes. Those of the same species might look almost the same and have the same species name, but they can be as different as the day and the night. Maybe obtaining more individuality through names would help to show that difference"
She closed her eyes and crossed her arms, concentrated into finding a proper name for somebody like herself. What would be a nice name? Alraune? Too easy and generic. Sakura? Too common. Rose or Rosa? Same case than with Alraune. Then she had an idea. She had hear tales about great people who did great things and there was one character in particular she liked from one tale.
"I don't know if humans do the same with their tales, but here humans were considered mythological creatures in the distant past and many histories were passed down about those mythical beings. One was about human called Himika who using her incredible human powers, unified both human and digital world and become a queen. I want to see an unified digital world too, so I think that name would fit me."
The old tales really exaggerated what a human could do. The Human Himika from the old myth was some sort of superhuman who could fly, had super-strength, had laser eyes and brawled with ultimate level digimon in a daily basis. Nowadays even those who only recently heard about humans knows that they are kinda ... squishy and aren't the incredible powerhouses of their fairy tales.
"Yep, Himika the elegant flower of the digital world, I like it."
She giggled a little and smiled at the human-veemon duo. It was thanks to them that she had something to differentiate her from other Alraumons, a name of her own.

Veemon thought the idea of naming herself after a human that had managed to become Digital Royalty was a bit extreme. But perhaps that wasn't the point behind her reasoning for doing so? The idea of the human uniting two different races together was pretty cool. It was something that many Digimon dreamed of happening one day, especially Digimon that knew just how important relationships to humans were. To former dreamers like himself, it was the ultimate goal in life to be with a human as destiny had called for.
"Heh....That sounds really cool...Himika"
Hearing Veemon's light-hearted chuckle, Misaka giggled as she nodded in agreement. It was amazing how similar the way things here were to her own world. Myths and legends of humans, spread out like they were about dragons and ancient gods back home. Of course, the reality of it never really paid off. That was, at least when it came to humans. Despite what they seemed to believe, Misaka wasn't sure about any of them having special powers. At least, she didn't. The girl was still getting used to the idea of being a Digi-destined, so the thought of being some kind of savior was still too hard for her to take in.
"I agree...I think it suits you very well....."
