PERSONALITY.
In a nutshell? Savage, merciless, sadistic, proud...
Scared. Lost.
Cerberumon is cold, callous, and cruel. He finds dark delight in the warping of human children infected with spores, and will go out of his way to try and taint them personally. Being born a wild digimon, Cerberumon feels no empathy for humans as to him they’re just an alien race invading his land and a quick way for digimon to get stronger. It seems that to a certain degree he actually hates them… most likely because they ‘own’ the digimon chosen for them. Cerberumon despises any form of ownership over other living things. It’s a rather ironic element about him as he is in an organization where lesser digimon serve him, his partner and his master. Also, stangely enough, Cerberumon shows no compassion for the ‘enslaved’ digimon under their humans; it’s an aspect he most likely acquired from Antylamon.
Around allies, Cerberumon behaves differently depending on who it is. He treats the Shepherds with cold indifference, making sure to bully them and keep them uncomfortable while acting regal, evil, and powerful himself. He acts with almost flamboyant wickedness and gives little room for his ‘underlings’ to make mistakes. Around Antylamon, Cerberumon also tries to act over-the-top cruel; not to her but to everyone else they run across. When it’s JUST Antylamon around, Cerberumon becomes more easygoing and childish. He’s often lazy, and will make it a point that he doesn’t care about anything and only does his job out of bored humor. Still, despite this apparent lack of care in Antylamon’s company, Cerberumon seems to have a slight soft spot for her, listening to her opinion of things more than anyone else, and is truly interested in her ideas and any news about her when she’s not around. NeoDevimon’s presence, meanwhile, brings a completely opposite side out of Cerberumon. While around his master Cerberumon turns cold, efficient, and obedient. Instead of showing off he becomes completely submissive. However, if anyone were to study Cerberumon during these times, they’d notice a distinct hint of hatred in his gaze and tone. It’s most likely only their difference in power that keeps Cerberumon in check.
Alone, Cerberumon acts very differently. The digimon has an additional two heads that rest on his shoulders. The heads cannot speak (only make incoherent animal noises) and they don’t seem to be quite aware of anything, yet while alone Cerberumon will often find a place to hide away and talk to them. He refers to them as his brothers, his only company he can truly trust, and he loves them more than anyone. During these times alone he’ll often just sunbathe or munch on something tasty, trying to relax with just his brothers as company, and ignore any stranger digimon that come by. If he’s sure he’ll be alone for a while he often starts to play like a child, shouting happily to his brothers as though they were playing with him. If he ever gets caught playing or talking to his brothers Cerberumon gets defensive and angry; this reaction worsens if he’s made fun of about it. Only Antylamon and NeoDevimon can get away with commenting about his strange behavior.
Even though he always talks like he could care less if he were to get stronger, Cerberumon has no other obsession. After a hard life where only the strongest survive, Cerberumon can only see himself living in peace by becoming the highest level digimon he can be. Deep down, he just wants to escape his constant terror of being betrayed and killed. What he would do if he REACHED that goal, however, is probably not a good thing as all he’s ever known is the cruelty of the strong. To him, manipulation and extermination of lower digimon is what powerful digimon do. Who is he to question that?
HISTORY.
Cerberumon X was born a wild Botamon in the outskirts of the digital world. Little Botamon was a playful, carefree, showoffy baby digimon that delighted in the company of his brothers and sisters. Life was simple; all they did was eat, sleep, and play in the fields under the sun with no larger digimon to tell them what to do. This also meant no protection.
The gang of evil digimon that came for Botamon and his kin stole them barely two weeks into their lives. They were seized in the night, in a rush of snarls and screams. Botamon was one of the first taken in the ambush, blowing bubbles uselessly at his attacker.
The captured digimon we carried away in armfuls to an underground cavern hidden in a thick forest. There, through a tangle of catacombs they reached a room lined with makeshift cages, and in one of these cages every babe was shoved. They were cramped and terrified. Botamon couldn’t tell if any had gotten away or not.
For the next few days, the babies were fed scraps of food then a few would be taken out of the cage and not returned. Once, another group of newborn Zurumon were shoved in a different cage nearby. Botamon tried to talk to them, and became acquaintances with a smaller, runty one who knew as little about what was going on as he did. All they could do was wait nervously for whatever fate awaited those that were taken each day.
Eventually it was Botamon’s turn to be taken with two of his sisters. The three were taken to a sort of mini-arena in the catacombs, where many huge digimon were laughing and jeering as they waited in the stands. The three babies trembled in the center of such a crowd and, to their dismay, were told they had to fight to the death. At first they refused, but the one that had commanded them simply reached over and crushed one of the sisters on the spot. The remaining two found they had no choice but to battle.
The fight was long and awkward, since neither digimon knew any actual fighting attacks. Botamon tried to be strategic about it and got the upper hand by blinding his sister over and over with his bubbles, allowing him more successful body slams than her. By the time he won he was battered and half dead himself, and had little willpower to argue when he was told to eat the data of his sibling. He felt his energy return thanks to her remains.
Botamon was then taken to live in a different room with others that had won their first battles. Here, they were kept in separate cages so they couldn’t attack each other between fights, and they were brought out two at a time for their battles. Botamon won another fight with his same tactical battling. Then, to his relief, his friend the little Zurumon was brought in and put in the cage next to his. As the battles continued Botamon found Zurumon’s company during his downtime the only comforting thing he had. Together the two whispered fighting tactics to each other to ensure the other would win.
Then, one day after devouring the data of his opponent, Botamon digivolved into Gigimon. He was not returned to the second room but was brought to a third where the cages were larger and stronger. Zurumon did not show up for the next week. During that time Gigimon grew more and more distressed and depressed. Fights were harder. He was losing a reason to want to win them. He felt like his heart was turning cold...
Finally, one night the little digimon had an opportunity to escape his cage and search for his friend. The catacombs were complex however and soon he became lost. The first room he dared peek into ended up being the most terrifying place he had ever seen. Much, much larger digimon were caged in here, ones that must have been fighting for ages. There was a tall vertical pole in the center of the room and strapped to this pole was one of these fighters, who was being struck over and over by one of the evil digimon. Gigimon watched in horror as the digimon was beaten to death, then its remnants eaten. The little digimon quickly fled, but got caught in the catacombs after that and was recaged.
In another week’s time Zurumon finally joined Gigimon in the new room, but now as Pagumon. Pagumon had seemed to change a little; he enjoyed his fights and didn’t care for talking with Gigimon as much as they used to. Gigimon still cared for him greatly, however, and as soon as Pagumon would listen he told him about what he had seen. Pagumon’s smugness vanished, and the both of them agreed that would probably be their fate in the end. To Gigimon’s delight they started talking regularly again, now making plans of escape along with their battling tactics.
The idea was to wait until they were destined to fight each other; they would make their escape out of the arena room which Pagumon was sure was near the exit, but before they made a break for it they’d try to release some prisoners and cause chaos. The trick was to start this chaos BEFORE they were in the actual arena.
The plan ended up working quite well. The evil digimon didn’t suspect two small digimon to try and escape at once, much less them not actually fleeing, but instead trying to open the cages. The two fled laughing as large digimon ran everywhere, and got out of the catacombs without being caught. Finally, they were free.
Gigimon’s freedom was short-lived thanks to a trap laid outside the caverns, just for runaway digimon. He cried out to Pagumon, who was still free, to help him, but Pagumon barely gave him a glance as he left him there, calling out thanks to Gigimon for getting caught and slowing their captors down. Gigimon stared after him, stunned, until he was discovered in the trap. He struggled and screamed as the evil digimon moved to kill him on the spot.
A Leomon X is what rescued Gigimon from death, scaring the other digimon away and taking him under his wing. Gigimon was tremendously grateful, and followed Leomon X like a faithful puppy, eating up his words as they traveled. Leomon X didn’t seem to mind at all. They went on a journey together, Leomon X telling Gigimon of his struggles and adventures in life. These talks were where Gigimon first learned about humans. Leomon X described them as selfish, controlling, invading creatures, but creatures who could also be used for gain by digimon. Gigimon was horrified at the concept of humans enslaving digimon and vowed to help release them if he could. He wanted to be just like Leomon X.
However, at the end of their long journey, Gigimon learned that Leomon X was not who he thought he was. The powerful digimon had brought his little follower to the very humans he had taught him about, to sell him for valuable materials. Gigimon was shocked, hurt, and furious; he struggled free of the grip of a man that took him and aimed a bite right at the man’s throat. The man’s partner aimed to shoot him and Gigimon jumped out the way so that the man was shot. The remaining human decided to leave, telling Leomon X that they would not be trading with him any longer. Gigimon, meanwhile, tried to flee; a furious Leomon X pursued him, spitting hate and death threats. Gigimon found himself in a race to survive as Leomon X went to attack him again and again. The only thing that kept him alive was the narrow rooms and passageways that humans had; it at least gave him a head start. Leomon X caught up with Gigimon at the edge of a cliff, however, and grabbed him, ready to crush him in his hand… and suddenly the ground collapsed beneath them and the two fell from a great height. Leomon X took nearly all the impact and instantly died, leaving a very upset and rattled Gigimon to feast upon as much data as he could.
This is where NeoDevimon found him. The ancient digimon was intrigued by Gigimon’s refusal to run away and leave the data, and once the little digimon finished and digivolved into Salamon X, NeoDevimon grabbed him and gave the digimon the choice of belonging to him or getting eaten. Not keen to die any time soon, Salamon X submitted.
Thus Salamon X became NeoDevimon’s servant. Training was hard, but Salamon X was used to hard training and took it well; he loved how fast he grew. His new group was always doing questionable things, but this never bothered him as he’d reached a point where he just assumed that’s what EVERYONE was like. Only Antylamon seemed kind. Dobermon X, for that was what he was very soon, wanted very badly to trust Antylamon, and he’d have days where he’d warm up to her a little and genuinely smile and share things with her, but then he’d immediately close up again the following day as he wrestled with his fears. He wanted to trust… but he knew he couldn’t. In the end Antylamon would betray him just like everyone else had.
When Dobermon X finally digivolved into Cerberumon X, he was introduced to the Shepherds. Their unquestioning obedience and strange reverence alarmed him at first, but he got used to it and soon was embracing it. He was POWERFUL. He also now had strange, constant company—the heads on his shoulders. Absently he slowly started talking to them, then opened up to them and finally bonded with them like old friends. They couldn’t betray him, and they seemed to almost hear him. He called them his brothers and they became his everything. Soon he didn’t care if he couldn’t trust anyone else—he’d never be alone again.
Cerberumon stopped letting himself get emotionally involved in things after that. Period. Nobody could be trusted and nobody deserved sympathy. They’d all lie, trick, betray, to him and to each other, and he didn’t want to ever believe in anyone again.
(Note: These many events happened quite quickly—Cerberumon X is very young. If he’d been left to his own devices he would naturally be a rookie digimon right now.)
ATTACKS.• Mad Dog Fire - breathes green flames from his mouth—any of the three heads can do it.
• Portals of Darkness - opens up a doorway carved out of the earth that drops the opponent into an alternate reality, a bug in the digital world. It’s a small room with no light where he may trap those he wants, and open it again when he’s ready to retrieve them.
