APPEARANCE.
Of apparently average build, Kurogane stands at a height of 5' 9" and weighs 168 pounds. While boasting some muscle, he doesn't have quite as much as his appearance would initially suggest, with most of his muscle tone being the result of a very low body fat to muscle ratio rather than the actual thing. With that being said, Kurogane tends to wear rather conservative clothing anyways, concealing as much skin as reasonably possible without wearing gloves or a hat. Kurogane also wears his hair rather long, although it is impecably kept and never seen in public unless it is tied back in a simple, low ponytail.
While in the digital world, Kurogane's appearance changes very little, if at all - unless he was wearing something that he normally wouldn't touch but was demanded to wear by circumstance upon entry, his clothing will never change from the dark, conservative clothes he wears in the real world.
PERSONALITY.
If asked to describe himself as an individual by someone, Kurogane wouldn't bother to lie - he would simply state that he is a "complicated man", and leave it at that. No statement could be closer to the truth, nor more of an understantement. While growing up, Kurogane seldmon showed affection to anyone outside of his immediate family, being cold and aloof but dignified in the presence of others as his father led him to believe he should act. Even his immediate family presented a complicated dynamic. First and foremost was his father, Shizubaya Senzu, a stern, dignified individual, who while loving of his children (or at least claming to be so), was ruthless, calculating and demanding of others, with his personality often overshadowing that of their mother, Shizubaya Miyuki, a proud but quiet woman who did what she could to soften the demands of Senzu. Finally there was Kurogane's sister, Shizubaya Hiromi, younger than Kurogane by three years and the only individual who he openly showed affection for in the presence of others, much to the displeasure of Senzu.
Towards his teen years, Kurogane began to become much more ruthless under his father's tutelage in addition to the influence of his Dark Spore, and in addition to increasing his intelligence far beyond what was expected it also made Kurogane much more prideful and ambitious. While this greatly pleased several people, Senzu among them, it also made Kurogane increasingly cold to people he knew as friends, Hiromi being the only exception. The longer the Spore was in him the further the changes progressed, nearly completely consuming who Kurogane once was and replacing his personality with one of a monster who felt no guilt, no fear and no pity, only driving ambition and a penchent for sadistic tendencies that grew out of what had started as little more than ruthlessness.
The current Shizubaya Kurogane is a deeply conflicted individual, with two sides of his personality at war within himself - the first personality being his core, the dignified individual he had been as a child trying to reassert itself, and the remnants of the Dark Spore attempting to regain influence and control in the wake of its failed removal. While slightly more tolerant and much more sociable than he had been as a teenager, Kurogane has become as ruthless as he ever was. Incredibly intelligent, Kurogane has long since realized that the Spore has begun to eat away at his mind, and while he had been able to suppress it through sheer willpower over the last two years he has begun to exhibit mild schizophrenic tendencies, although he has managed to hide them from the world. He is aware that these aren't real and is still capable of distinguishing them from the real world, even going so far as to suppress them still, but the fact that they are ocurring with increasing regularity and severity terrifies Kurogane. What scares the man most, however, is the fact that he is inevitably running out of time, knowing full well that the Dark Spore inside of him will eventually mature and kill him in the process if it isn't removed. This has resulted in both his greatest strength and greatest weakness, driving him to accomplish things he normally wouldn't finish but also greatly tempting him to pursue any information that could help in the removal of the object, no matter how irrational it may be as well as encouraging his already narcassistic tendancies and beliefs that stem from his rather real mortality, tendancies that more often than not cause him to view many of his activites as little more than games with people as pawns despite any damage he may cause to their lives.
In the end, Kurogane considers himself a monster for a number of different reasons, although the defining difference between him and the rest of humanity is that he isn't bothered by it. While he struggles to control the outbreaks of schizophrenia and violence induced madness on an increasing basis, he views it as a sort of blessing at times, providing both the motivation and ocassional means to accomplish his current goals much as they had his past ones.

Shizubaya Senzu [Father, deceased]
Shizubaya Miyuki [Mother]
Shizubaya Hiromi [Sister, deceased]
Born to Shizubaya Senzu and Shizubaya Miyuki on November 2nd, 2012, most of Kurogane's life path had been decided upon from before the moment he was born, with his father being the head of a small Yakuza family - while not at all large or particularly influential compared to many of the larger sects, the Shizubaya group filled their niche, and as such they had traditions to be followed, with Kurogane destined to succeed his father from birth. It also resulted in extremely complicated family and social dynamics compared to what a child Kurogane's age would normally be able to expect, with the fact that Shizubaya Senzu himself expected Kurogane to meet every challenge and imposed standard, only to pass with flying colors. While Kurogane's mother, Shizubaya Miyuki, was able to forestall much of such treatment until Kurogane was at least four or five, it hit full force when he did finally become subject to it. And pass with flying colors he did - while not as physically adept as many of the stronger children, much to his father's disappointment, Kurogane showed remarkable intellect for his age, completing most of his lessons and personal challenges imposed by Senzu in half of the expected time, even less when computers were involved. It was during this time that Kurogane's younger sister, Hiromi, would be born, further deciding the course of his life from that point on.
Wheras their mother was calm but distant and their father provided only a sense of overbearing, disappointment and unreasonably high standards, Hiromi provided shelter from the storm that Kurogane knew as daily life, and while Hiromi didn't need to deal with expectations as high as Kurogane's, he offered the same for her. Within a handful of years, well before Kurogane reached the age of ten and Hiromi eight, the siblings became virtually inseperable, parting only when circumstances demanded of it and even giving their father a relatively difficult time when he tried it, further inflaming his already enlarged sense of pride by openly ignoring the need for public dignity he'd thought he'd successfully instilled in them when they conversed or interacted. Nevertheless, they began to grow slightly seperate as they passed the age of ten and eight, with Senzu's grooming of Kurogane as his heir intensifying even further while Hiromi was enrolled in a seperate public school. Over the next two years Kurogane would further prove his genius with computers and coding, learning from the best programmers that the relatively rich Shizubaya family could afford.
Upon reaching the age of thirteen, Kurogane's life would again shift in focus as several major changes would happen in quick succession. No longer seeing any valid reason to "spare" schooling Kurogane the more unsavory points of the family business, Senzu began requiring his son to sit in on and observe many of the family dealings, always discussing the episodes with Kurogane immediately after, and while much to Senzu's delight and mixed disappointment, Kurogane quickly picked up on and understood most aspects of what he witnessed and was taught, but never showed much interest, especially when it came to the more brutal "lessons", which he saw outright as wrong and beneath the sense of dignity Senzu himself had taught to his son.
As it soon became clear that he was fighting a losing battle attempting to groom his son as a suitable heir, Senzu began looking for anyone or anything that might prove useful to his cause, stumbling across mention of a group called AIR through another allied group, discovering the existance of the Dark Spores that were under study at the time. After a few subsequent months of considerable time and money spent obtaining relevant information, Senzu was eventually approached by an AIR official curious as to why someone such as Senzu was interested in the Spores at all, and when threatened with arrest, Senzu fully explained his reasons, if grudgingly. Rather than further prosecution, however, Senzu was offered two choices - he would be allowed access to a limited, small number of Dark Spores procured for experimentation under the conditions that AIR would be informed of any and all results, or he could simply disappear. Not seeing the options as much of a choice, Senzu chose the former, implanting a Dark Spore into each of his children at the ages of fourteen and twelve, without Kurogane or Hiromi's knowledge or consent.
The results were far beyond what anyone had predicted. While Hiromi showed little initial change for several months afterwards, all of Kurogane's intellectual and physical traits improved greatly, with his body becoming much stronger and faster than it normally would have been capable of, and his intellectual abilities greatly increasing as well, with Kurogane far outpacing all of his programming instructors within weeks of the implantation. As time further progressed his improvement would show little signs of plateauing, with Kurogane eventually cracking through multiple government level firewalls with apparent ease as he began testing himself in his own past time, unbeknownst to his father. As Kurogane's intellect and physical abilities increased, however, so did certain other traits, namely his pride, ruthlessness, and much to his father's pleasant surprise, ambition.
However, as Kurogane's condition continued to improve with the encroachment of his Dark Spore, Hiromi's health began to go into decline without any apparent explanation nearly a year after being implanted with her Spore. Still very much himself despite the changes that his Spore had begun to make, Kurogane became increasingly concerned about the wellfare of his sister as time passed on, her condition growing steadily worse with each passing week. Eventually Kurogane ceased going to any of his lessons or sessions with his father to spend more time with Hiromi, something that angered the man a great deal, only for her health to take a second sudden decline nearly two years after the initial implantation, leaving her bedridden for several weeks before passing away at the age of 14. Upon her death her body was claimed by the government under the assertion that she posed a possible biohazard to the surrounding area, much to Kurogane's outrage, and despite his skills as a hacker and programmer he was for once unable to find the information he wanted.
As he grew emotionally numb after Hiromi's death in an attempt to cope with the loss, the Dark Spore within him took the opportunity to further assert its influence over him, and from the emotionally dead individual following his sister's death rose a ruthless, unfeeling individual who seemed to either not notice or simply not care about the pain he caused others through his actions, even going so far as to cause his father to pause for a moment at his sudden and drastic change. As Kurogane began to simply follow the flow of day to day life he began to delve back into programming to do what he could to improve his already considerable skills in the hope of eventually discovering what information he could regarding the circumstances surrounding his sister's death, eventually succeeding another two years after the event when he stumbled across mention of a relatively small and obscure government division called AIR.
With little else to do and his curiosity piqued by the name of the agency having never heard of them before during his unsupervised forays into the government networks, Kurogane spent several days chasing down false leads, dead ends and dummy corporations until he found what he was looking for, managing to grab a number of files before being forced and blocked out of a computer system for the first time in his life. As he began going through his spoils Kurogane learned of the existance of the digital world, Dark Spores and their development cycle, and eventually to his outrage, what their father had done and what had been extracted from his sister's body following her death. His rage fueled by the Spore within him, Kurogane was extremely tempted to kill his father then and there, only to convince himself that all it would serve to accomplish would be spreading discord among the family he had very real desire to one day head, as well as drawing unwanted attention from the government, other families and the public. Settling on a slightly more drawn out course of action, Kurogane instead began doing something no one would have expected from within the family, let alone Kurogane given his usual style and modus operandi. As the days and weeks passed on, Kurogane began schooling himself on substances toxic to the human body, and from the weeks and months from that point began slipping toxic chemical cocktails into his father's food in trace amounts. Nearly a year later Shizubaya Senzu's heart would finally give out after his health had slowly declined much as Hiromi's had, a quiet, personal victory for Kurogane.
His desire for revenge fulfilled but still far from peace, Kurogane, now 18, began looking for more detailed information regarding the Dark Spores with the intent of removing his own before it matured and killed him in the process. Unwilling to beg or ally himself with the people he considered every bit as responsible as Senzu had been in Hiromi's death, Kurogane's bids for information only proved partially successful, and upon turning nineteen he hired the best doctors he could find and afford in a desperate attempt to remove the Spore from his own body. The operation ended in failure, managing to locate the Spore and remove and destroy only a fraction of it before it became clear that they lacked the knowledge to safely remove the object without risk of permanent damage.
Within the following months of the failed operation Kurogane would develop extremely narcissistic views and tendancies as the reality of his situation began to truely set in, resulting in his electronically hoodwinking several foreign banks out of several hundred thousand dollars in a vain attempt to feel something other than despair, be it accomplishment, rage, or disgust, and it was the latter that made itself known. The very thing that was most likely going to kill him within a handful of years had also given him the ability to electronically obtain anything he wanted that he couldn't get through the Shizubaya group, and yet here he was stealing money that wasn't going to do him any good long before he ever turned thirty. He was the intellectual equivilant of many, if not most, of the world's best minds, those few who allowed humanity to progress as the rest of their species, mere insects in comparison, simply sat and waited for the next advancement to be made. Why should he simply remain where he was, waiting for death to take him rather than using what he had left? While Kurogane was well aware that he was a monster by most of humanity's standards, he didn't care - all he wanted by that point was to leave a mark on history, definate proof beyond a few pieces of paper and an upright stone that he'd existed. The day Kurogane turned twenty he made a vow to himself - he didn't know how or when, but he would leave his mark on the world before he was gone, for better or for worse, and he would either find a way to use or destroy anything that tried to get in his way.
Let the games begin.
