Digimon Partner: Unknown

---------------------------------
Personality
Ran tends to display herself as a no nonsense individual that takes her job seriously. But she can be very easy going when the moment calls for it. It usually takes he friends to help her relax and show her true nature. That nature is someone who is kind and caring. Very dedicated to her family and friends, she is loyal and strives for nothing less than perfection with everything that she does. Which is one of the reasons why she has earned her position as a Criminal Investigator, her incredible drive and ability to get results.
Ran also has a deep love of adventure and things that challenge her. Though it has dulled down over time, there are moments when she does allow her own thrill seeking to get to better of her, often getting her into very tight situations. Yet, she seems to usually find a way out of them using her keen eye for details and her ability to gauge people's motives and way of thinking. Another skill that helps her in her field of work.
Of course, Ran also has her own insecurities. One being that she feels no one truly understands her. This is most prevalent in the fact that many of her relationships end because they either wish for her to stop being a detective or feel as though she is distancing herself. At moments, the young detective does indeed close herself off from the world, due to a feeling of emptiness. While she does try to give into the needs of others, she finds that giving up her job is something out of the question. Especially as it seems to fulfill a deep desire to protect and serve the general public, as well as deliver justice to those that deserve it.

History:
Born and raised within Odaiba, Japan, Ran did not know anything else outside of the city in which she lived. Raised by both parents, she understood that she was their one focus as their only child. Not only that, but that they had managed to balance out exactly how to raise her into a respectable young woman. One that would one day make them proud. While their methods were different, they each loved her deeply.
Her father, Tochigi Norio, a former General within the Japanese Self-Defense Forces, instilled in her a sense of duty and always honoring your promises. Not only this, but he ensured that she understood the need for order and discipline. A strict man, he kept a watchful eye over his daughter, making sure that she and her mother were well cared for and happy. In a way that Ran could never understand, it was how he showed his love for them. Though this display was different for her mother.
A kind-hearted woman, Kaiyo taught Ran about traditions and mostly what most women knew as they grew older. She was gentle, asked the girl's opinion and respected her need to learn on her own. Though she was also stern, not one to allow the young girl to simply do what she pleased. In a sense, this was how she balanced out the parenting of Norio with her own, thus creating the standard that they both agreed upon. Not too strict, yet not so relaxed as for Ran to run all over them.
So Ran was a well mannered young girl. Though in this, she was very distant from children her own age, many finding her somewhat strange. This due to her usually reading or keeping very quietly to herself. It wasn't as though she were sad, she didn't really know exactly how to react around other kids. Some even found her boring, teasing her for being so anti-social. Yet, around the time she turned seven, her world changed forever with the appearance of an strange creature in her living late one night.
This was how she learned about Digimon, and how she came in contact with her own. Through it's support, she became much bolder and even more outspoken. The change was so drastic that even her parents were surprised by it. Ran was more adventurous and even found herself playing with children her own age more. But in all this, she ensured that no one learned of her new companion or of any of the adventures they had within the Digital World.
Ran and her Digimon partner were together for three years, but that all ended one day when the girl left her partner in the Digital World as she had always done, but never returned. Ran was captured by AIR and all memory of the Digital World was erased from her, and she never thought about it again. In fact, her life continued on as if it were never apart of it. Though her personality changes seemed to stick, making her into quite the confident individual for most of her life. Yet she never recalled ever having a Digi-vice or even a Digimon ever again.
Upon graduating High School, and despite the disapproval of her parents, Ran enlisted herself within the Japanese Special Defense Forces. For two years she worked with the special Ground forces, just as her father had in till she was honorably discharged at the age of 20. From there, Ran went into Law enforcement, working as an officer within Odaiba police station for the next two years before being promoted to Detective and joining the Criminal Investigation unit.
