APPEARANCE.
Dark like her digimon form, Saber didn't stray too far from her original appearance in terms of specific coloration. Her hair is almost feathery in appearance, and is the exact shade of her feathers, as is the black aviator jacket, knee high boots and pants she sports. Her skin tone is also of a darker shade too; a light brownish coloration. A few smaller, yet quite noticeable things also followed, which only serve to increase other people's sense of "this cannot be normal" that she may have already exuded from behavior alone. First and foremost, her eyes (which she has thickly decorated with eyeliner and other makeup), carried over the orangish-yellow coloration from her natural form as well, and combined with unnaturally tiny pupils, she can have a rather disconcerting and piercing gaze to those that happen to catch her eye. Also, purposefully brought over into the disguise by her for the sake of intimidation (though admittedly quite a bit smaller and less noticeable) are some fairly pointy teeth.
That however, is where the similarities to her old form disappear. Refusing to allow anything else to be carried over due to the fact she believes her natural form to be hideous, she desired nothing more then to at least have a lovely human form. While her figure is more boyish then super feminine, and she lacks the long locks many girls desire, she still managed to get her wish, appearing as an attractive young woman in her early to mid twenties. Despite the pretty face however, it is hard for others who spend more time then merely a fleeting glance with her to ignore the other things. Perhaps her smile is just a tad too pointy to be natural. Maybe her arms are just a little too long and wiry, or maybe it's just the way she moves; stiff and lacking grace, as though she's not all that used to, or comfortable with, the act of treading upon the ground.
PERSONALITY.
~Oh how pretty you are. What a shame it would be if something....happened..~
These words are spoken softly, perhaps no louder then a whisper. A long, thin finger reaches out to trail down their face.
"You're afraid, aren't you?"
Her hand leaves their face, trailing down to that point on their chest where the heart rested. Her grin widens.
"I wonder..is your voice as pretty as your face?" Her visage, normally so soft and calm, was now sporting a grin, twisted into something malicious and ugly, as she turns to face you.
"Sing for me now..."
Saber has you within her clutches now, but don't worry, you'll get out alive. Probably. Especially if she gets what she wants. With a scar or two to remember her by (call it a gift). It's THEM you want to worry about. She tends to prefer what she calls a more elegant tactic, as opposed to causing physical harm. From what she has found out over time, there is something far worse than seeing an open, bloodied wound on yourself. It's seeing it on someone you care about instead. Oh humans...they seem to crack so easily when it's someone else at stake. It's almost laughable. Their reactions...especially the ones of the true victim are priceless. The yelling, the begging, and finally, if cooperative, the words that signal cooperation. It's all a lovely song, and she is the conductor.
Truth be told however, Saber actually hates causing an overabundance violence against those of flesh and blood. It's messy, attracts far too much attention, and gets all over the place. It's the emotional distress she savors, and not the violence. Thank goodness most people cave before too much happens to their loved one. At least offing other digimon is both clean and has personal advantages. Offing a human to her, would just be for the hell of it. Besides, what use is a dead or incapacitated human? This is not to say she is above killing them if need be, she just sees no point in having it long and drawn out. Quick and simple is the best approach for her. Finish it and move on. On a side note, however, she seems to enjoy messing with those who she knows are infected with dark spores in a way that is different from everyone else. She likes to test them, "play" with them, too see what effect it's having on them, if any. Because she sometimes oddly sees herself as being somewhat similar to them (a former innocent who was tainted..even if she, or someone she knew was the one who caused it) she will probably not hurt them in the way she would anyone else. Though it's not like she'll be exactly kindly either.
No, she does not hate humans. Not at all in fact. She has no reason for it in the first place. People are fun, for her own “personal enjoyment”, occasional conversation, and wonderful reactions. Plus, she is honestly quite jealous of them. They seem to get everything...a more interesting world (in her opinion at least), constant enrichment, and not to mention much better responses to fear and danger. They can’t defend themselves without help, and most flop around helplessly as they try to make sense of a situation that seems helpless to get out of or ramble on about why something is “unfair or wrong”...it’s quite adorable to her. Plus they now have access to the digital world, so not only do they have THEIR world but also “hers”. It isn’t fair, and she thinks she should also be able to have just as equal access to their world as they have to the digital.
Surprisingly though, she is honest. Most of the time. It is only one of very few positive traits she possesses. Once a promise is made by her, it will probably remain true, unless it was a bargain and the other party breaks it. If she promises not to hurt her target's friends if they give her true cooperation, she means it. However, if lied to in this setting and there is no cooperation after a promise is made, she will, at some point, without warning, come back and wreck vengeance upon them (and then try and make it all look like an accident for the public). Mostly cooperation means accompanying her and the other herders back for experimentation, but sometimes something else can attract her interest too. However, results for her fellow herders and the harvesters is more important in the end, and she will put her own desires on the back shelf and do her task first before seeking out personal interest. She enjoys having leaders, having no desire to be better then or rule over anyone herself, and will gladly follow orders to the fullest extent of her abilities. She is not a pushover, however, and will not do something if she has reason not to. In this sense she is very loyal to her fellows and would not in any way ever betray them.
Speaking of the other Herders....no, she would not die to save them, but she loves them. (sometimes, probably stupidly, she even lets them know this too). Honest to god, she loves them all, no matter what sort they are, and will get exceedingly angry if anyone were to severely injure one of them. Perhaps this stems from the last dregs of the angel type she used to be, or perhaps she just can relate to them in ways she can't with others. Almost naively, she has put her utmost trust in them and them alone. She really has no good explanation why either, as it would seem this to be a very bad group to trust. Around them, or when alone, she seems to change, almost unnervingly too. While on a job, or out "hunting", she is cold, and almost calmly psychotic. She claims it's the thrill of the atmosphere that causes that to happen, and that this here, how she acts with her group is the true her. This may or may not be a good thing, at least in the eyes of some. First off, she is almost disturbingly upbeat. Okay, so maybe not in the “praise the world and everyone in it” sense, but she definitely likes to let people know what she is thinking and feeling at that moment, and is loud about it too. Saber is also prone to horrible insults when not on a serious job. No, not horrible as in nasty and witty but just downright bad, thanks to the many small children she’s overheard while in the digital world. That coupled with, at times a few childish mannerisms, can have one who doesn’t know her (or perhaps even those that do) scratching their head and wondering...”Okay just how old IS she?” Thirdly, she seems to be a wee bit of a dunce. Not stupid or idiotic mind you, far from it in fact. However, she does tend to take a little longer to realize something then the others, or will have zoned out so badly that she won't have realized that she's been asked a question until later, or will have wandered off in the wrong direction for a few dozen feet before coming to her senses. Fortunately, at least for her "duties" she becomes more astute and focused, and it is really only the other Herders and very few other people that see this part of her. So this sort of uh, less then intimidating persona does not get in the way when she wants’ to have “real fun” or do a task. Perhaps this is why she likes having specific goals; to keep her totally on track.
Saber is also impossibly lazy at times, (preferring to be sprawled in comfortable positions rather then look professional) and tries to do most things with the least amount of steps possible. She always does get things done in the end, and most of the time well, but she is not going to be the first person to get up and go. She sees no point in rushing anything that doesn’t have to be, and because of this she is quite patient and can happily sit around waiting for days for something to happen (mainly because it means rest, or doing nothing in particular unless she feels like it). Usually on down time she spends it loitering about the human world, which she loves.
One could say that perhaps she loves it more than the digital world from whence she came. There is so much more to do and see, and boy does she try to see everything (at a pace though..no rush). The city at night in particular holds her fancy, as then not only does everything suddenly become lit up and alive, but it’s the best time to...find those possible people of interest.
HISTORY.
In the beginning of her life, there wasn't much that could have predicted that the little Puttimon would turn out the way she did. In fact, she was destined to be an angel type it seemed. True, she was a little more of a timid loner then the other fresh digimon, almost shy in fact, but she still enjoyed their company and the occasional playfight. In fact, the first and earliest part of her existence was markedly uneventful, and along with the others, did eventually move on to her in-training form, Cupimon. However, this was the point in time where she began to grow apart from the ones she'd spent the earlier part of her life with. Some just left she never really saw again, others came and went, a few talking of creatures called "humans", which she had seen upon occasion, wandering throughout the area. She had always admired them but never dared go too near them despite her intrigue, finding them alien, strange, and despite all the good things said about them, somewhat scary. Every so often, due to an inquisitive nature, she would dart around nearby, but keeping herself hidden as she watched humans and their partners interact. Her experience with humans remained like this until much later, and for this time being, she was okay with just watching them enjoy themselves. There were the chosen it seemed, then there were the couple few, like herself, remained where they were, seemingly without purpose or goal.
She claimed not to care. Really, she tried her best to convince herself and the others that she was happier doing things alone and as she pleased. It wasn’t that she wanted human company in particular, she just desired guidance, and her one remaining companion was no more experienced then she was. In all honesty she was anything but a leader, and her being a small little Cupimon, suddenly felt overwhelmed as she found herself more or less alone for the first time in her life. She wished she could be bigger and stronger..even just a little bit; maybe then she wouldn't feel so helpless.
Time passed. Then it happened.
So insignificant it seemed, just a patch of dark in the trees nearby to where she resided, darker than even the shadows surrounding it. She couldn't help it, the darkness was fascinating as it was frightening; it didn't look like it should be there, and yet there it was. Was it dangerous? Without really considering the implications of it, she inched closer...closer...too close. In an instant it felt like she'd been punched, even though she hadn't seen from where it had come, causing her to black out for a bit. What she didn't know what that changes were already steadily taking place.
She had been tainted..corrupted by a vicious virus that scrambled with her thought processes and to an extent, her beliefs. From the moment she woke up, after momentary confusion, things she would never have considered an option before now crept into her mind. Instead of unnerving her like they would previously have done, the thoughts began to seem like good and viable options. Cupimon spent the next few days stewing in her thoughts, debating what to do with them. She became even quieter than usual in this period, which concerned her companion. Her companion. Whereas before she had thought of him as being merely inexperienced, now that idea had morphed into him just being downright useless instead. And what good were useless things? ...well..wait...he wasn't completely useless. He could maybe be used...after all helplessness was a horrible feeling. Those sentiments from before flooded back, except this time she wanted to do something about it right then and there. It would be so easy....
He hadn't even seen it coming. Why should he have? She had been his friend after all, and this was the last thing he would have expected. It was hardly a preponderance of data, but it was just enough, and it had felt great. Invigorating even. She had already been so close to her next level in any case, and this was the last little push she required. However, instead of remaining on the holy line she had once been intended for, thanks to her corrupted data and the fact she'd digivolved through a betrayal, she became an Impmon; a virus.
Whether it was indeed the increase in size and strength or merely (more likely) the effects of the virus, Impmon found herself more willing to venture away from the place she had called “home” for so long. Now, it was boring, there was no one left and she had a craving that had not been present before. One that had been awakened thanks to the data she had absorbed from her companion, and would not dissipate. Fortunately, (for her) she thought she knew how to satisfy both the need to do something, as well as the nagging cravings. However, it’s not like she was granted with sudden bravery and, having always been on the lazy side, didn’t want things to be too difficult either. She had been lucky with her first prey, but couldn’t expect it to always be so. So she sought out the little ones, in training forms for the most part, and found she could easily overcome most of them especially with the element of surprise. True there was not that much data to be had, but it satisfied her, and over time, it came to her attention that she LIKED it. She liked bringing them down, even if it was easy. It wasn’t the act of attacking them she liked, it was the look on their face...the fear, the helplessness and even sometimes, sadness. It was beautiful...why had she never realized this before now? It seemed time was continuing to corrupt her, each kill heightening the darkness that had grown within her.
One day, Impmon came across a Budmon, seemingly on it's lonesome, and without hesitation, jumped it when it's back was turned. After delivering a couple nasty hits (she never had any qualms with attacking an opponent in the back), she flipped it over as she always did, wanting to see it's face. Just as she delivered the final blow...it's human partner emerged into view. Apparently the human had gotten momentarily distracted, and the budmon, upon the moment of the attack had turned to go fetch her again lest she had been lost.
Impmon froze. The girl was running, having seen the last ends of the attack, something wet glistening in her eyes, face flushed a delicate shade of pink in her despair. It was even lovelier a sight then Impmon had seen in the face of the dying budmon. No digimon she'd ever known ever looked like that. The girl had started yelling, begging to know why...why she'd done it. Impmon was fascinated. She's never known many close relationships. In fact, none really. Her companion from so long ago had been merely that...a companion that she spent time with to avoid being alone. Why did this sorrow seem so much greater then of the ones about to perish? Without a final backward glance, ears deaf to the sobs of the girl, Impmon left the area, a new goal in mind. What she wanted was to seek out humans. She wanted to repeat the experience she had had and see if reactions were the same.
They were. All of them in one way or another. Not that she managed to off too many partner digimon, most of the time they were more experienced and aware then the budmon had been, and most of the time the human was not too far away. She was smart enough to know when to back off, and thus this prevented her from making too many rash attacks. However, the few she did manage to succeed in granted her the exact results she had hoped for. Oh, these humans were fun indeed with their adorable and unique reactions, and she only loved tormenting them more and more with each “success”.
It was shortly after she digivolved into her current form Sabermon, (after attacking countless smaller digimon and a few rookies, which was a slow process indeed), that she was approached by the Harvesters to join the Shepherd’s, and later the Herders. She jumped on the offer immediately. Why shouldn’t she? It was a chance to have access to two worlds, to be closer to the people that so amused and fascinated her, and a chance to act as she pleased without being frowned on by her group. Perhaps even some shared her sentiments, and she loved them for this. On top of all that, she finally had some sort of guidance and authority...something she’d wanted from the very beginning. It was too good to be true. What fun could be had here...So many new things she could try in order to mess with them. After all, it was the humans that fascinated her now.

SPEECH.
Why would Saber make a good Herder...Well, Saber would make a good Herder for several reasons. The first reason being she is a good follower, loving to have guidance and set goals, and is exceedingly loyal to (and even adores) her group. Saber will do whatever is needed of her, and would be a good and trustworthy partner in a situation if need be. Second, she prefers creating emotional pain as opposed to physical (unlike a few of the Herders already there), and it's not even out of revenge or hatred of the humans, but for mere fascination. Thirdly, she is not one hundred percent malicious and nasty. That's (mostly..there are exceptions) reserved for targets and persons of interest. Her being how she is around the Herders, might be able to assist in bringing some possible lightheartedness to more casual situations. There are a few other reasons, like she loves spending time in the human world, and even with some people sometimes, or that despite being childish and lazy, when she's bad she can be very nasty indeed. There's but a few reasons why Saber might make a nice fit with the Herders.
As for why I should be allowed to play a big bad...I think I am fairly decent at playing baddies, and find it fun (though I am not sure if this is a good thing or not). I also think that I am good at keeping my baddy steadily nasty, and they do not dissuade easily from their path, if at all. I had been itching to create one for this site, as I almost never go without at least one bad character, but had no inspiration. At least not until the option for Herder came out. That was what I needed, a small push that gave me the inspiration I required to spark life into this character. I also do love to plot and would be willing to spend time collaborating situations with both the other Herder characters as well as anyone else interested. All in all, I think this would be terribly fun, the group of Herders looks like an awesomely bad, yet interesting group to be a part of, and I would do my best to contribute to it.
