APPEARANCE.
Taylor has not one, but two rather distinctive traits, the first being his near snow white hair and second, the long thin red scar down the side of his face. The hair was totally accidental thanks to a day where he was bored enough to try bleaching his own hair at home. His natural hair color being closer to a light blond, there wasn’t much color to kill, and he thus ended up with a nice crop of colorless hair that has yet to go away. He is somewhat embarrassed by this long term effect and will try covering it with hoods or hats when out in public, though if it is too hot or he’s feeling more up to it, won’t bother trying to conceal it. His scar, the cause of yet another, more permanent accident, stretches from across his eyelid and stops just at the bottom of his chin. This has caused partial blindness in his left eye, and his depth perception is thus way off at times.
Taylor's facial appearance is somewhat stuck in between childhood and the next transition to teenage-hood, his face still slightly roundish and childlike thanks to the last dregs of baby fat still stubbornly remaining. This, coupled with the fact he has still not hit his growth spurt, can cause people to think he is still a few years younger then he actually is (though being only 15, he's still not too old to begin with) He has large gray eyes and is almost always wearing a slight smile, even when he is anything but happy, and all in all he is actually a rather cute looking kid. Taylor is also the sort that likes to look as nice as he can; he is always well groomed and often dresses up in sweaters, jackets and good pants, even if the situation or weather might not suit it.
PERSONALITY.
Taylor has been more or less alone his entire life, as his parents (and thus him) have moved to a new place nearly once every year thanks to their work. This constant change has caused him to miss out on many experiences most kids have in their younger years, even so simple a thing as having a friend or going to a birthday party. Taylor is thus a very lonely person, pining for human company of any sort, as the only company he gets most of the time is from his tutor, and not even his parents. He has become very independent because of this, and is used to doing most things, (at least around the house) on his own. He doesn't get much free time thanks to the expectations he has, but during his free time, when he is not made to be studying (which has taken up the majority of his life, and still does), he loves people watching; observing their actions and interactions, and at times trying to put himself in one of their places and imagining what it might be like to be them. This is not to say he hates how he lives, just that he was always curious to think about how things might have been for him in a different circumstance.
Thanks to his damaged eye, where it is only able to register a bit of vague light, color and movement, Taylor is also a perfect klutz. He has little to no depth perception and he often misjudges heights and distances of things. This coupled with the fact he is none too graceful, Taylor swears he spends half his life on the ground. He thus often has little scrapes and bruises on his person and sometimes likes to make up stories about each one, most of which are fantastical and obviously untrue (which was ultimately the point). He is also very easily amused, something that has come in handy upon his many days alone and stuck in the house. He often comes up with stupid ideas (such as bleaching his own hair with laundry bleach) and then actually going through with them without considering what the final result might be.
Despite this however, he is very astute when it comes to observing others, and will often, if possible, spend a good deal of time sizing someone up, and taking in ever detail he can. From posture, clothing type, facial expressions, gestures and small unsaid habits, he wants to be able to know someone as best he can before they even open their mouth. While he knows only so much information can be attained from this, it does give him a starting point, wherein he can go from in order to know what to do or say next with them. This is not to say he is brilliant at social interaction however. He is far better at observing and interpreting then the actual interaction itself.
During social interactions, upon first glance Taylor seems like a sweet, well mannered, and cheerful individual, and while he might actually be these things up to a point, most of it is actually a front. It's not that he is hiding anything horrible, but just that this attitude is more or less faked by him in order to get people to like him. This is because he believes this is the personality sort most appealing to others, and he thus tries his hardest to maintain what he thinks others want to see. This attitude has become especially apparent in casual or short term interactions with people, and through these keeps on trying to make a good name for himself around the area he lives in. He is almost obsessive about what others think of him in this sense, and has become so lost in this "pleasing others" game that he has almost totally forgotten that this isn't actually who he is, and slowly became the mask.
Despite his innocent appearance and polite demeanor, he can also be terribly angry and jealous, as well as horribly possessive. However, this is not in the material sense, or even the bratty desires of a spoiled kid. He wants people and company, and will do nearly anything to achieve it, believing everyone will eventually leave unless you somehow stop them and don't let go. Thus, his friendly front is not only for allowing him to look good, but also allows him to slowly latch onto people no matter who they might be, over time clutching at them tighter and tighter like a squid clinging onto it's prey. Preferably of course he wants someone who is pleasant to be with, but anyone really will do in the end unless they're totally horrible or unnerving. He is the sort that will try to make one feel guilty if they decline an invitation to hang out, follow someone all over the place try to prevent them from having any companion but himself, or even, if things get really desperate, he will try to blackmail his way into remaining firmly in place alongside someone, no matter how strained and forced the relationship will undoubtedly become. The problem is that he doesn't seem to realize how unhealthy and potentially cruel all this is to both him and the other person, no matter how many times he is told otherwise, and how many people he has already driven away over the course of time. He always finds some way to blame the other person and not himself for doing wrong, as in his mind he was faultless.
Despite all this, he is not a malicious person..at least not intentionally. He is not out to hurt, even if what he does does exactly that. In fact, in those rare times where he is actually AWARE that he has caused suffering, he will undoubtedly feel guilty and try his best to make up for it. If he tried to interact in a normal way he might very well actually be a good friend, though thus far his mental need to "own" a friend has more of less destroyed any chance of this.
- He hates liars, and has no tolerance for people who are, despite, being one himself
- He almost always has a slightly frayed sleeve or shirt hemline thanks to a nervous habit
- He cannot cook to save his life, and his kitchen almost perpetually smells of burnt food
- Countries hes lived in include France, different states in America, Italy, Spain, Russia, and now Japan
HISTORY.
hometown; Honestly doesn't consider anywhere to be his hometown, as he moves so often
family members; Joshua Knowles [Father] Iris Knowles[Mother]
Taylor comes from a family that consists only of himself and his parents. Ever since he can remember, Taylor and his parents have never remained in one place for very long. Both of his parents work full time jobs in business, and they have thus always been fairly well off, however they always busied themselves with so much work they're hardly ever home. This is not to say they didn't love him or care about him. On the contrary they loved him very much, to the point of being extremely overprotective of their only child, despite never being there. Taylor was always in the care of either their live in sitter or his tutor, and was almost never allowed to leave the house without one of his parents (just in case something happened). It was thought that since so much travel occurred, and would probably continue to happen, that Taylor would be better off just staying at home for school rather then change up ever year, (plus it was safer to just stay home.) He grew closer to these two people then to his own parents, which isn't surprising when one considers the ratio of time spent with them as opposed to the parents. He didn't mind however, as this was all he ever knew, and thought it perfectly normal. He did however wish he was allowed to leave the house, especially on his own to go talk to the people he often saw passing by whatever house they happened to be in at the time. He had had a couple arranged play-dates, but those almost never turned out too well, or they just never arranged a second one for various reasons.
When he reached school age, study was (and still is) a very important part of his life, as his parents believed that he should devote most of, if not all of his time into learning for the future ahead. He was always a fairly obedient kid at the time, and didn't ever really complain, again mostly for the reason that this was what he knew best. One of the things that he was expected to do involved learning the basics of whatever language was spoken in the place they were living at the time. He thus has a minimal or basic knowledge of Italian, French, Russian, Spanish, and is now attempting to learn Japanese, as he currently resides in Japan. Despite the fact that he has lived in so many places, he was never actually able to do much exploration beyond what he was exposed to when in the company of his parents or tutor. All this study ate up so much of his life that he didn't have time to worry about being bored or lonely. At least not for a while. One can only take so much of something before needing to break free of the routine for a change. He decided on doing something he would never have thought to even try previously, even if it was only as impressive as sneaking outside alone for a mere ten minutes; scary stuff for a kid who had never done such a thing before, but he found he loved it and would start to reward himself with secret small trips on his lonesome after classes.
It was upon these small outings where he truly interacted without appointment with people, even if the meetings were brief and short and almost never resulted in a second meeting. At first this was also okay, because he was enjoying himself. Over time though he wanted more then just several acquaintances..he saw what it could be like when observing others and this sparked a burning jealously and desire to have what those people probably always had had. He now wanted someone who would never leave and would always be there no matter what. Taylor grew more and more impatient with his limited freedom, and upon moving to Japan, where he currently resides, his blind obedience to his parents was nearly decimated. Why should he have to listen to people who were never there..especially if it was causing him to miss out on so much? He was in a new place now and would try to actually make something of it.
