Though his name in the real world was Kyle, in the digital world he was known as Tyren. To most he just looked like your average digimon tamer with a gabumon as a partner. As a combination data and vaccine digimon, most would never guess that the boy with the red hair was a member of the black market in the digital world. The two made an interesting team, and time would only tell where their travels would take them. For the moment, the pair kept mostly silent. Never any real interaction unless it had something to do with a fight or their travels.
As it was, they had found their way to the old colosseum that held a bit of history for the original digidestined. His original task was to collect data and information about this place. At the moment, all he knew was the commonly known history and a few unconfirmed rumors about the atmosphere. With his fake digivice, he was able to do just a bit more than your average digidestined. His father had tinkered with the parts inside to allow his son to collect data without having to take tons of conspicuous gear. No it couldn't pick up or store as much as the official gear, but it could at least do more than your average digivice.
"So are you picking anything up Kyle?" the digimon asked the much taller human that he had been following since the two had been teamed up at the A.I.R. base. Gabumon knew better than to ask the boy any questions, but it was difficult to keep them to himself when he was such a curious digimon.
The boy's reaction was stiff; a stern, annoyed look towards the reptilian beast digimon. "I told you not to call me by that name here." the boy snapped at his partner, "It's Tyren in the digital world." he was irritated, and though his tone was a bit harsh, it still wasn't very loud.
Soon after, however, the boy returned to the digivice and ended up unintentionally answering his digimon's question by whispering out loud to himself. "There's definitely something odd about this area, but there just isn't enough going on for me to tell exactly what it is." glancing pensively up at the sky, he continued his thought process. "Perhaps if we could set up a confrontation of sorts in here." and it was then that he actually looked down at the digimon. Much like his father, his thought process had lost all emotion, and merely followed that of pure scientific process. He expected his digimon to fight if someone came. There was always a reason, or at least Kyle could always think of a reason to fight. Each situation had always been different, and so he always had to be ready with a new reason or excuse.

"So where are we going?" Asked a medium-depth, curious voice.
"No idea." Came the response from a tall, thin girl who trudged through the dirt towards the enormous stone structure. The first speaker, a Hawkmon, trailed behind her with a slightly rushed pace, as he found walking at a human's speed quite difficult and he wasn't at all used to it. In fact, neither of them were used to any of this - Hawkmon's tamer had come from the human world only two digital days before. They were getting along swimmingly, which was, for the tamer to admit, a nice change of pace. Having a friend could be a good thing.
"..actually, I do have an idea. There's shade in there and that's where we're going." Jim raised a hand to point at the Colosseum. She slowed down a bit, and Hawkmon caught up for long enough to hesitate beside her, beak dropping slightly open as he realized where they were.
"W-wait, Jim, that place isn't all that great. Some bad stuff's happened there." He became flustered, and hurried to follow after the digidestined as she continued forward.
"Don't be a baby. We won't be here long." Not long after, they were moving through the stone building. Hawkmon stopped at the edge, just inside the shade, and looked suddenly appalled as Jim continued in deeper.
"Jim! Come back!" He hurried after her, but it wasn't difficult to catch up as she was walking slowly to take the place in.
After a few minutes of wandering, cheerfully aware that Hawkmon was beside her, the girl slowed to a halt at an intuition and looked up. She spotted the Gabumon first, and only then did her gaze flick to the boy that was with it, eyes slightly widened in surprise at seeing another human. Hawkmon stopped as well, staring at the Gabumon and tamer ahead.
"..who are you?"

As Kyle continued to sit and study his digivice for data on the area, his Gabumon became a bit bored with just sitting here and doing nothing. He didn't have something interesting to study in order to keep him busy. All he had in front of him was the colosseum, which was filled with rubble from where a great battle had taken place here many years ago. With a quick glance up at his owner, Gabumon realized that the boy was much too busy with collecting and examining data to really worry or care much about whether or not his digimon was entertained.
As such, Gabumon decided to explore the ruins a bit. He knew he couldn't stray too far from Kyle in case anything happened, but he had to find something to keep him from being bored. Luckily for Gabumon, there was a pile of rubble just a few rows down from where he was currently standing. All at once a few different ideas struck him at once, and he made his way down to the pile.
Now that he was here, he began to sort the rubble into piles based on their size. Larger rocks in one pile, medium, small and so on. Once he had them organized, he began to build with them: the larger ones on the bottom for a base, building up with the next size down, and using the smallest to fill in the gaps between them all. By the time he was done he had made a very crude little building, and proceeded to come up with a game that involved some little rocks as digimon that were having a little play battle.
After playing for a while, Gabumon suddenly sensed another digimon approaching. At the same time, Kyle's digivice began to alert him on a real digivice in the vicinity. This was what he had been waiting for - a real digivice meant another digimon was coming as well, and that meant he could study the effects of this colosseum on the digimon. Did it really make them prone to fight? Would the fighting increase the darkness in the area? Would it all snowball as the digimon used the increased dark energy to fight? All of these questions ran through the boy's mind at once as he watched the survey data on the screen and waited to see if it would change.
He was quickly torn out of his deep thoughts by a voice asking him who he was. Since the boy didn't like the idea of giving out his real name to strangers, especially digidestined, he opted for his chosen alias to answer. "Tyren." he answered simply. "And you?" he asked back as his eyes wandered from the girl to her Hawkmon, then to his own Gabumon. He was pleased to see that his own digimon seemed to be in a battle ready stance. Apparently there was enough darkness in this place to affect at least rookie digimon.
Now that he noticed the change in the digimon that had been waiting here for a longer amount of time than the new arrival, he checked his digivice again and noticed that the darkness that had already been around them was larger than that of the hawkmon. Now he just had to figure out if this difference was due to the difference in the connection between digimon and tamer or the fact that Gabumon had been under the influence of the darkness for a longer period of time. He would have to find a way to keep the Hawkmon around longer in order to test his theories.
"Care for a little match?" Kyle asked the girl. He was up for anything from a game of soccer to a one on one battle. He just wanted something competitive between the digimon in order to gather more data about this place in the digital world. If she agreed to it, he would most likely have to take out some heavier research equipment. He still didn't have anything as powerful as what his father had, but he did happen to have a small tablet capable of picking up a bit more detailed information than his digivice, not to mention it would be able to record and save every detail of what happened.

Hawkmon's full attention was quickly fixed on the Gabumon after giving Tyren the once over with his bird eyes - the other digimon, he could see now, was tensed, which was never a good sign. He quickly took a few hopped paces to place himself between Jim and the other digimon; he didn't say anything, but looked at the other one with a disapproving expression.
Hawkmon himself, currently, did not feel anything beyond a sense of discomfort from this place. Whether that was because of the story of the original digidestines stopping here or because of some dark energy, he didn't know and it never crossed his mind. All he knew was that the Gabumon looked ready to fight.
"A match? What for?" The girl narrowed her eyes and kept them locked on Tyren but for a single glance at Hawkmon as he moved in front of her protectively. But the other human didn't have to say too much more; Jim's competitive spirit flared up at the question almost immediately.
Hawkmon already knew where this was going with her; he'd known her for two days and he was sure. His voice came out reluctant and resigned. "I think he means a fight. That's part of what we do, Jim."
"Okay." Jim said to Kyle directly, a grin stretching onto her face. "What happens when you lose?"[/color][/sup]

Gabumon was definitely itching for something, but it was so unlike him to be exhibiting this kind of behavior. Kyle had known the digimon for quite a while, and had never seen any inkling of negative behavior from the creature. Taking this thought into mind, he sat down and decided to finally take out his tablet. This was much to fascinating to miss the opportunity to study. He watched the screen as it showed a different scene than before. Kyle hadn't noticed exactly how much dark energy was in this place due to the fact that it had been so evenly spread out through the whole complex. Now that the Hawkmon was here, it was as if his mere presence was stirring up all of the dark energy and pushing it onto his Gabumon. "Interesting, I never would have expected something like this" the boy whispered under his breath.
He was, however torn out of his concentration when the girl asked what would happen if he lost. A small look of confusion came across the boy's face at the thought of giving something up on the slim chance that he would lose. "What do you mean? some sort of bet?" the boy pondered the idea, but he wasn't too fond of it. After all, his main reason behind this was to gather data on this place by using his digimon. Such a thought of betting on winning and losing had never crossed his mind.
"I'm sorry but I'm a scientist merely trying to understand this world and the creatures in it." he said, finally deciding on the proper answer. "My current project is this colosseum and the effect it has on digimon. I couldn't possibly make an educated guess as far as who could win or lose in such a place, especially when I have no existing data on your digimon." It was at this point that he really took a close look at the Hawkmon. He seemed very protective, much different than his usually friendly, playful and exceedingly annoying Gabumon.
Turning again to Gabumon, he addressed his digimon on the situation. "So Gabumon, you up for a challenge?" Gabumon's response, however, was different than what he had expressed earlier about fighting. While he had silently opposed it when the two had first arrived, he seemed to be itching to go at the drop of a hat. Rather than be concerned for the well being of his digimon, Kyle wanted to see exactly where this dark energy would take the digimon. Would it give him more strength? Would it make him digivolve? These were all things that Kyle didn't know, and so he was wanting to get going with this.
Leading the Gabumon down to the bottom most level of the arena, he was prepared to collect data on the fight as it progressed. "Ready when you are." he said to the girl who hadn't introduced herself. He didn't even have to say anything for his Gabumon as there was no doubt about his being ready.

Jim let out a scornful snort once Tyren declined the bet idea. Pathetic. But on the other hand, the boy's stoic, bland way of speaking was quickly getting on her nerves and she'd only been standing here for five minutes. It was as if he was unintentionally claiming to be more mature than she was, even though she was sure they were around the same age. She was more mature than him, no doubt. At least she wasn't acting the part.
She was so irritated that she almost didn't realize that Hawkmon was tugging on her pantleg with his wing. "Jim, let's do it!" He said with a hushed voice. "I haven't fought in a while. No offense but before we all became chosen digimon we expected to be running into fight after fight. Please? I promise I won't lose."
Either his worries about this place had gone suddenly kaput or he was just really itching for some action. Jim looked down at the digimon, nodded idly as if she hadn't just been crossing her arms or as if she didn't find it to be a big deal, and began to follow the other tamer to the colosseum arena.
Hawkmon followed, keeping his voice low so Jim would be the one to hear. "What's with this guy, you think? I don't think any normal digidestined like you would be doing research or whatever." Hawkmon clacked his beak meaningfully, "Hmm.. maybe he's just overly curious," and sped up a bit to enter the arena and get to an open spot on their end where Jim would be safe from attacks.
Jim didn't reply to Hawkmon's quiet words, though she began to watch Tyren thoughtfully. This was an entirely new thing for her, but he'd pretty much given her the go ahead to start. The tamer prepared herself to shout some sort of (possibly silly) battle cry, when instead Hawkmon darted towards the Gabumon--
// HAWK CLAW! //
--the claws on his left wing aiming for a strike on the other digimon's body.

As the other digimon went ahead and launched the first attack, Kyle merely stood on the sidelines to collect as much data on this area and the effects that battle would have on his Gabumon. The digimon, on the other hand, was ready for the attack that was coming his way. Rather than dodging or countering the physical attack, Gabumon started out with a ranged attack, opening his mouth the moment the bird digimon began closing the gap between them. // PETIT FIRE! \\ With a swift movement soon after releasing the blast of blue fire from his mouth, Gabumon made his own attempt to close the distance. His goal in this method was to use the fire to stall the bird digimon so that he could catch it off guard when he came bursting through the space where the fire had been just moments before.
In the meantime, the data that Kyle was studying and recording on the darkness was more entertaining to him than the actual fight. He watched his screen as the darkness followed behind his digimon partner. Curiosity taking full control of the boy, he began to wonder what sorts of effects this energy would have on the reptilian-like beast-type digimon that he had purchased. It was nothing more than a game to the boy - a game that he had never played before, and as such was still learning the rules and consequences. ((sry for the late reply - been super busy trying to find a new job))
