APPEARANCE.
Petite and dainty are two words one might use to describe Kiyoko; she is quite small in stature. Her hair is short as well, falling just below her chin in light brown locks with grown-out bangs framing her face. She often wears a headband in order to keep the aforementioned bangs out of her face, as they have a tendency to be annoyingly in the way. Her eyes are a chocolate brown, a bit darker than her hair, but the two colors still coincide with each other.
Kiyoko is not particularly developed physically; she is still rather young and it is evident upon looking at her. Her skin is pale but not completely blanched, and she has the unfortunate ability to sunburn easily. Overall, she is not particularly concerned with her appearance or how others view her from their first sight of her, wearing whatever she wants to wear and not spending time with makeup or other "beauty preparations".

PERSONALITY.
Though on the outside Kiyoko appears energetic and excitable, this is mostly a front to cover her wide-ranging insecurities. She isn't some snivelling wimp, though; everywhere she goes she tries to act bold and cheerful in an attempt to "fit in" more with others. Most of her lack of self-confidence comes from childhood bullying by her two older brothers, who would often call her "runt" or "scaredy-cat." Because of this she is easily intimidated, but deep down she hates how easily intimidated she can be.
It's not easy to get past the walls she puts up, but once one gets to know her and she feels comfortable in a person's company, she is often quite the ball of energy. Just as she is frightened that others may not like her, she is conversely overjoyed when they do accept her. Kiyoko is a loyal friend, even in the most difficult of times; she will use what cheerfulness she possesses in hopes of keeping her friends optimistic and happy. Whether she does this for their benefit or in order to keep them from disliking her is often questionable.
Because of her insecurity--and, to an extent, paranoia--Kiyoko often prefers to be alone. Despite her young age she is very capable of being independent and taking care of herself. Her Digimon partner is her best friend, someone that she knows will always accept her, and is the only being that she will tolerate when she wants to be on her own. She feels incredibly grateful to have been blessed with such an unrelenting friendship.
HISTORY.
hometown; Odaiba, Japan.
family members; Akiyami Mao, mother [restaurant owner].
Akiyami Osamu, father [chef].
Akiyami Rikuto and Jirou, older brothers [students].
Kiyoko has lived in Odaiba all her life. Her family has run a local restaurant for several generations, and her parents expect her to take up its management someday, though she isn't exactly looking forward to it. From their success in the food service business, the Akiyamis are fortunate enough to live a high middle-class lifestyle. They are by no means rich, but have plenty of money to take care of three children.
The relations between these children, though, have always been a problem. From a very young age, Kiyoko has been bullied and tormented by her brothers, no matter how much their parents have tried to intervene. She would often come home from school and lock herself in her room to avoid their taunting, leading to a bit of isolation. Though the brothers' behavior has improved with age, their relationship with Kiyoko is still rocky. Thankfully she no longer has to deal with them at school as they are receiving their higher-level education in a different district.
Despite the trouble with her brothers, though, Kiyoko loves her family very much. She even has some hope of reconciling with Rikuto and Jirou someday, hidden deep inside her mind. Her parents have always tried their hardest to keep their only daughter happy, and she respects them immensely, but finds herself saddened that they cannot control their sons.
And then one day, it happened. She thought it was just a normal day, but she was wrong. As Kiyoko ran into the house, her brothers hot on her heels, she slipped quickly through the door of her room and was surprised to find something there that she had never seen before--a Digivice.

"C'mon, runt! Yeah, run for it!" cackled Jirou, reaching forward in an attempt to grab his little sister's hair. His brother smirked sourly, overtaking him in speed and getting closer to the younger girl.
"Stop it, stop it!" cried Kiyoko, tears welling up in her eyes as she ran with all her might toward the Akiyami residence. The weight of her backpack slowed her down, but she kept going as if her life depended on it, the laughter of her horrible brothers ringing in her ears and her heart beating faster than their rapidly approaching footsteps. She knew that her pleas would do nothing. They never did.
Kiyoko sucked in her breath sharply as the house came into view, and she turned sharply towards it, running haphazardly across the street without even bothering to look for traffic first. Finally her small hand reached the doorknob and she wrenched the wooden door open, still breathing heavily. She didn't bother closing the door, knowing her brothers would be right behind her, and made no attempts to speak to her parents who stood up from their seats at the table when she entered the household. The girl made a mad dash to her room, and this time she did shut the door behind her, slamming her back against it and locking it securely. She could hear her parents scolding Jirou and Rikuto as she leaned her head against the door, trying to catch her breath and thanking her lucky stars that she had made it back in one piece.
Brown eyes scanned around her small room--it was nothing special, but it was the place where she felt the most secure. Normally she would go sit on her bed, grab her laptop—it was already sitting there, waiting for her—and zone out from the world, but something was different today. Beneath her pillow, Kiyoko was sure that something was glowing. Slowly and cautiously she approached the bed--surely this was some kind of prank that her brothers were pulling, it had to be--and gingerly lifted the pillow, pausing for a moment to stare at the strange item that she found where it once was. It was some sort of small device, a machine perhaps; she had never seen anything like it. Carefully, with full awareness that it would probably give her an electric shock or do something else unpleasant, Kiyoko took the device in her hand and looked at it, waiting for something to happen. But she had never expected just what would happen on that day.
