APPEARANCE.
For starters, he stands at a rather average height of five feet and eight inches tall. Adding on to the lack of impressive this kid shows, is that he is rather thin, more or less not having any real muscle mass to him. Tomonari's brown hair is generally long, kept up in a ponytail held up by a black band. A hassle at times, he tries to keep the rest of his his hair as neat as possible, although doesn't sit there for hours on end trying to do so, leaving it a bit messy. Despite being of half Japanese heritage, his green eyes are not slanted like most that have an oriental background. Over his eyes are a pair of thin frame glasses, due to his poor eyesight. Compared to the picture shown above though, there are two differences. One, is that Tomonari does not wear earrings. The big difference, however, is that his skin tone is close to black, meaning he more or less has one of the darkest skin tones a human being can have.
He generally wears more relaxed clothing, since he prefers to feel comfortable when going through the daily grind. A thin, long sleeved shirt starts as the base of his clothing, partially tucked in his pants. Over the standard shirt is a suit jacket, which is unbuttoned in the front, considering the fact that more often than not, Tomonari is in a casual styled situation when it comes to clothing. Cargo jeans are his favored style of pants, which is usually held up by a brown belt with a gray buckle. His white shoes are a bit odd, considering that instead of having laces, each shoe is zipped up by a gray zipper. On each show there are two, black stripes, which are positioned to go across the zipper portion.
For the sake of keeping things easy to carry, Tomonari wears a brown satchel. The strap is positioned to go from his right shoulder, and down to the actual bag part which rests on his left side. Across his back is a tan, acoustic guitar, with the neck a simple brown color, with white strings. The strap for this guitar is placed so that it forms a sort of 'X' shape across the front of Tomonari's body, when aligned with the satchel's strap.
PERSONALITY.
The first, and most obvious, thing about Tomonari upon meeting him, is that he is a rather timid teenager. His speech patterns involve quite a bit of stuttering, which may at times require him speaking some thought at least once more. However, he still tries to make sure his words are audible. It is also a common habit of his to apologize often, even if something was not his own fault, as well as thinking an apology is needed when it is not in general. Due to this, Tomonari's own confidence is quite low, which makes him quite uncomfortable when speaking to strangers. This factor ties into the difficulty of putting Tomonari and brave in the same sentence. Granted, he won't become frightened to extremes by something such as a gentle, accidental bump into someone, but other things such as an angry dog chasing him, will.
Although this may tie in with this timid personality, Tomonari is often worried about the things around him. For example, he quite often tends to make a conversation with someone he meets short, and attempts to make an excuse to get out of it. He isn't a very good liar, however, so these attempts are easy to spot. His worry also tends to cause him to have short OCD moments, meaning a chore such as cleaning dishes may take him ten minutes longer than necessary. These aren't often though, so it thankfully doesn't warrant as a significant medical condition. It does tend to follow more into his homework more often though. When it comes to the actual world around him is when his worry acts up more, leading into the timid side of him. Tomonari is rather unsure about things, no matter how much reads up on a subject. When it comes down to it, he's book smart, not street smart.
Despite these personality traits, he tends to be more polite on a regular basis. He clearly knows how to be respectful of people, and will try his best to make sure he doesn't talk badly about someone, despite what his innermost thoughts and feelings are. This can be a downside, as if he does not speak what he is feeling, it may cause more trouble than he thinks. At times this can tie into Tomonari being rather responsible, and he makes sure he does things such as being on time for a meeting, cooking something properly, among other things. However, whether or not this involves itself with his actions is somewhat of a different idea, as at times there is still the sense of being unsure about things lingering there.
When it comes down to it though, he does have his own likes and dislikes, some of which can be quite helpful. Granted, some are assuming he opens up to someone about them. One of the top favorites of his is reading, and not just for school study. Tomonari will often come back to a novel after reading it once, especially if he enjoyed it. Mystery and detective based novels are a preferred area of fiction (although it's a good ratio of hits and misses when it comes to him figuring out the culprit(s)). Despite not looking like the kind of guy who involves himself with sports, baseball seems to be something else he enjoys, assuming he gets the chance to play it. He won't be talking about things like the latest scoreboard in a professional game and such, but offer him the chance to play for fun, and he'll be rather tempted to join.
As for a more musical side of him, he generally enjoys music. Granted, he isn't particularly fond of things such as rap and hip-hop, but orchestrated and rock sorts of genres are among what Tomonari can be caught listening to. Although, don't expect things like 'heavy metal' and 'death metal' from him. This has led him to eventually pick up learning to play an acoustic guitar. He'll often be heard playing it when alone, and when reading at times. It helps that he's been practicing for a good four years. When it comes down to it though, perhaps nothing will beat his love for cooking. More often than not he can be found being the one to cook family meals and such, no matter if it's his turn or not. Currently taking electives in high school to do so, Tomonari is planning on becoming a chef later on in life. Oh, and he especially loves lobster, so look out for that.
There are some general things to keep in mind when it comes to dislikes. For one, he isn't fond of a dirty kitchen. This really has to do with food safety, and he doesn't want people to get sick from contaminated food. Although swaring is something he tends to hear out of people's mouths generally, Tomonari doesn't particularly feel comfortable when around foul words. Following this, he isn't much of a fighter, so physical fights are something that really makes him uncomfortable being around. However, the big thing that really bothers him is such: Tomonari feels some sort of loose chain in his heart (figuratively), and despite wanting to fix it, he doesn't know how to fill that gap up. Rather, he isn't sure what to do exactly with this, it being a lesson he will probably learn with experience.
HISTORY.
hometown; Brisbane, Australia
family members;
Dane Cahal [Father]
Satome Cahal [Mother]
Renee Cahal [Older Sister]
Claus Cahal [Older Brother]
Jessica Cahal [Little Sister]
Sibald Cahal [Grandfather]
Tomonari was born in Brisbane, Australia, effectively making it his hometown. His parents were an Aboriginal Australian man named Dane Cahal, and a Japanese woman named Satome Cahal. However, he was the third child born, thus giving him two older siblings at birth. A year later though, his mother gave birth to what would be Tomonari's little sister, who ended up being the last of their siblings. This was really because his grandfather told his parents to more or less stop having kids, but that's a different story entirely. Anyways, due to the fact that Tomonari's father was in the military, he for one never saw him much, and two, the boy's grandfather lived with them to make things easier.
During his infancy, as well as throughout his life in general, Tomonari first grew quite attatched to his mother, although this was seen as quite normal at first. It wasn't until he learned to crawl that he began to show off his shy traits. For example, whenever he was put down to play on his own, he would do so for a few moments, but then rush back over to his mother. Like normal babies though, he would cry if left alone for too long. Granted, after quite some time, Tomonari eventually grew to being comfortable around his grandfather, although he had a tendency to still go near his mother more often. The boy did in fact learn to understand who his parents were quite easily, but the problem remained of his relationship with his father.
Whenever his father came home for the short periods of time he could, Tomonari always avoided him. It seemed quite odd to him to find some man, despite being the same one, randomly come visit and be familiar with his family. This concept was difficult for the boy to understand, and although he never completely cut ties with his father, Tomonari avoided him for the most part. Now there were times when his father would try and spend time with him, but it didn't work out too well, and it seemed as though his father gave up in a way. However, unknown to Tomonari, his own father didn't really understand how to talk to the boy. When it comes down to it, their lack of understanding was a shared trait, although it was perhaps a negative one that neither of them worked on.
School became a slightly difficult issue when Tomonari was old enough to go. It took quite a bit of prodding to convince him that he had to go without his mother around, although thankfully, it only took a month before he was mostly alright with being at school on his own. The boy came to understand that school was necessary, and also became a bit distracted with reading, once he learned how to properly read, of course. This lead him to start reading more books outside of his own textbooks, eventually coming across the mystery genre. This was a rather simple interest, one that continues even in the present time. On the upside, Tomonari was generally well behaved during school, although this was really due to his timid nature.
When he was eight years old, his father had decided to retire from the military, and therefore, it would mean the man would more or less be home much more often. Granted, Tomonari's father still got a job in order to support their family (it wasn't something fancy like being a police officer, however). At first, Tomonari wasn't too sure about this slightly different change in lifestyle. It still took time for the boy to get used to the idea of his father being around, but he eventually did come to terms with this. However, their relationship didn't really change all that much. The fact still remained that neither of them knew what to say to the other, and most attempts at talking to each other more or less ended up as nothing more than a few sentences exhanged.
At the age of nine years old, Tomonari came across two things, the first of these being baseball. He overheard talk of a little league baseball team, as well as watching some of the older kids playing baseball. Hesitant about it, the boy was convinced by his grandfather to go for it, if he really wanted to, and after some trying out and the like, he made it in. Granted, Tomonari wasn't a star player or anything of the sort, but it turned out that he could run, and run fast. That, and the fact that he was rather good at catching the ball made him great for the outfield. Aside from that, was the idea of cooking. Having watched his mother cook, and coming across the cooking shows on TV, Tomonari eventually became curious about it, and over time, came to enjoy helping his mother cook. Of course, he was allowed to use the stove yet, but he ended up learning at least something.
For the next three years, he continued his life as normal, nothing out of the ordinary really happening. At the age of eleven, Tomonari wound up obtaining his liking of music, and as such, was given an acoustic guitar around Christmas. He also started taking both guitar and cooking lessons, which made his life quite busy, having to deal with baseball and school as well. It was when he was twelve years old that Tomonari really started to change, and it didn't have to do with pueberty. He realized that there were so many things he had to do, and overheard his parents scolding his other siblings about schoolwork. This was the catalyst for him to start thinking about what he was doing, and as rash of a decision it was, Tomonari decided to stop playing baseball, in order to focus on school more. He regretted this decision, although never really gave it thought afterwards.
Nothing of importance happened until the present time, aside from Tomonari more or less becoming a bit more timid about things in general. He still managed to get through the 'daily grind', as his younger sister called it, simply keeping quiet and staying out of others' business. When it came down to it, his own faults and the like, have shown to be entirely his own fault. For the summer, however, an idea was had to get Tomonari out of the house for a bit. His mother remembered there was a summer camp in Odaiba, Japan, and some money was scrounged up to send him there. Tomonari wasn't fond of the idea of being away from his family all summer, although said nothing about it. He merely went along with it, and having taken the essentials with, was sent off to get some much needed fresh air.

Okay, so things were going a little smooth at least, even though Tomonari was still
Take a teenage boy, thrown in Mad Gear, and here arrives a long chase scene with said boy nearly pissing his pants as he desperately tries to outrun gang members and screaming in fright, "AAAAAAAH!" At one point, Tomonari outran Mad Gear to the point of hiding behind a trashcan, in an alleyway, and watched the punks with little intelligence run right past him. Shaking rather rapidly, the boy's eyes were wide, his arms widestretched on the wall behind him, "O-O-Okay... phew... I-I think.. I-I've l-lost them... heh heh... heh..." What was he saying? The moment those Mad Gear goons figured out they lost Tomonari, they would come running straight back. Granted, who knows what the likelyhood of that was. Sighing, the boy eventually stood up after a while, and peeked his head out of the alleyway. Seeing nobody else around, he quietly snuck out, reached a street corner, and rushed down said direction as fast as he could.
No matter how many times one could think it through, it still boggles the mind how Tomonari can come from a world filled with vampires, giant dinosaurs, and other assorted creatures, and yet, be scared stiff of simple gang members. Although, said creatures weren't exactly in any sort of war with humans, so that was probably it... yeah, maybe. Looking around constantly as he walked, although might as well have been jogging at this point, Tomonari wasn't sure where he was going. It was dumb luck he found someone who wasn't bloodthirsty the first time around, so it was doubtful he would the second time. His luck wasn't THAT great to begin with. Wait a minute... seriously? SERIOUSLY?! Up ahead, the boy could see two figures in the distance. One was a large man mountain, the other, a much smaller girl.
Now it was the girl with whom Tomonari was familiar with. Once he got in range of a much better view, he jumped in surprise, and called out, "M-M-Ms. Chao?!" For a moment, he wasn't sure what to do, and he started rushing up to the two. Upon seeing the injury Bao Yu had taken, Tomonari freaked out some more, "H-Hey! W-What happened?! A-Are y-you o-okay? An... AAAH!" When he was nearly there, the boy tripped, and fell on his face. A moan could be heard from the boy, and he slowly stood up. This wasn't his day, that was for sure.
