Chinatsu let out a long, long breath when the two of them didn't immediately repute her strange final message. It had been a real gamble even writing it. There's no faster way to drive people away than to suddenly bring up an insane conspiracy theory like the one she was now outlining... but it was only 'insane' if it was wrong. The fact was there was something going on that neither she nor the authorities could understand, and she had caught a glimpse of its truth... perhaps.
At Misaka's question Chinatsu reached for the notepad, but then paused once she had it back under her pen. Her brows knit and she tried to think of how to explain it. The strange feeling she had had when her voice was taken would be impossible to put down in words and could be written off as the effect of the electrical surge.
I don't know
She stared at the words, knowing they would shoot an instant hole in her credibility. They were true, at least as far as Misaka's question was concerned. Chinatsu hadn't the foggiest idea what could possibly reach out through an electrical device and do... anything like that to a person. However, that wasn't all. Chinatsu chewed on her lip as she continued after a pause:
but after I lost my voice I found a sound file on the internet. It was my voice, but the song wasn't something I'd ever sang. Even the melody was nothing like I'd ever heard before. My parents told me it was probably put together by my fans or made using an early or stolen version of the digital idol software I was being recorded for but... I know what both of those things sound like, and this didn't sound the same.
Chinatsu again got a frustrated look on her face. How many paragraphs would she have to write to explain just how strange the sound of her own voice had been when she had heard it singing that melody? How could she confer to them the certainty that it was nothing she had sang herself nor even heard of before? It was impossible. All she could do was hope they considered what she had already written as proof enough that she wasn't just jumping at shadows. In the end she had no answer for just what or who might have done this, but at the very least she had proof that it had happened... she hoped.
